HONEST REVIEW! I went to the Lotus of Siam on a recommendation from a family member. Let me start by saying that it was a busy Saturday night, but the hostess was able to get my group in within 5 minutes which was very nice.

Things went downhill from there.. let me be very clear when I say that not everything was bad. The busboy was very attentive and got our drinks out promptly, he was also very nice and recommended us drinks that we would all like. (He recommended Thai Tea for me and it was delicious!)

After we got served our drinks the waiter came to our table and took our order... This was the ONLY time he came to our table before everything went downhill by the way...But more on that later. So we order our food and then proceed to wait... Now I get it... It's Saturday night, and the restaurant is packed. It's Vegas. Ok ok. Understandable. We waited about 30 minutes for our food but I understand, it's ok..

What wasn't ok.. was that everyone at my table got served their food... Except for me. Now, we have all been there.. it's awkward, I didn't order anything extravagant.. a panang curry and some white rice, everyone getting served their food except for one person in my opinion is very unprofessional but again, I understand that these things so happen so I stayed quiet and patiently waited for my dish, my group said grace, shared with me some of their dish and.... 15 minutes went by... No sign of my food or the waiter. I had enough, I wasn't upset but I needed to get a status on my food at the very least so I flagged our waiter down, he came to the table, I politely asked him for some soy sauce and then proceeded to ask him where my dish was.... He stopped, looked at me with this upset/dumbfounded look on his face and silently stared at me.. it was awkward, one of the most awkward experiences I've had at a restaurant in fact. I looked at my group and they looked at me, then the waiter finally broke the silence and rudely said "it's coming sir, please give us some time!" Like I had offended him or something?! I was shook. I legitimately even thought omg did I offend this guy just now or something? I was just wanting to know where my dish was and had no idea I'd be met with such hostility.

Nope. Absolutely not. I've been through way too much to stay silent any longer. I was honestly going to give this place a 2 stars (because the food was actually good.) and be done with it but I said no way. I went and looked for a supervisor/manager.

I asked the hosts for names and to speak to a manager, they asked what happened, then flagged a Manager down. I was approached by a nice lady named Stephanie, we spoke at length and I told her about everything that had occurred and how it had left such a bad taste in my mouth. I just wanted names and would go about my night, but she actually apologized for the experience and politely asked if I would please give her a chance to make things right? We locked eyes and I could tell she was being sincere so I agreed. It is one of the reasons why I ended up giving this place a 4 star regardless of the bad experience I had.

Btw, the waiter did apologize for his behavior but then got upset that I had complained about his service so he came to our table and returned our tip we had left because he "didn't deserve it"?? Very petty behavior in my opinion. Please do better Lotus of Siam. The food was good. The busboy was excellent, Stephanie saved the day. But more work needs to be done.

Thank you for reading my review, I hope it helps...

Tl;dr if this place was $15/person for food and no wait, the food would be great and the service acceptable. But the money is more than double that and reservations are hard to get, so I won't be pining to come back.

My first time visiting Lotus of Siam, and I had the pleasure of being with seasoned veterans who had been to the old Sahara location before the roof caved in. I don't understand the hype honestly and I think the others in my party also felt there was a magic missing compared to the old Lotus of Siam.

First, the line is ridiculous. We went at 5:15pm and the line had already started forming for a 5:30pm open. When the doors open, they suddenly yelled reservations only! And started another random line for walk-ins with no order. They could at least put up a sign on the front door to let people know, or have someone come out just before open to start a new line? Or at least process people as they come in, whether reservation holder or not. So, if you're lining up as a walk in, be aware.

We waited an hour and a half for a 5 top, which I felt was reasonable considering the volume of people they had. Once we sat down and the food started coming, the service didn't feel particularly good, especially for the prices. Our cups of water went empty a few times. The waiter, server, and busser are three different people, which leads to communication issues. Our waiter didn't notice that we hadn't gotten our Pad Thai until we asked, after we had polished off every plate. The server at one point brought fresh food to our table, and I had to move old empty plates out of the way so he could set them down. Did he remove the empty plates? No, because that's the job of the busser. The busser was actually really good, other than not getting waters filled often enough. It wasn't her fault as it was really busy, but that's still a restaurant problem.

Overall the food was ok, with beautiful presentation. The garlic prawns are amazing, crispy and full of flavor. I was surprised that the crispy duck panang curry was not as flavorful as expected, both the curry and the duck meat itself, but the meat was well cooked. The pad thai and the tom kha should be skipped - the pad Thai can be had as good or better at some restaurants for half the price and a larger portion, while the tom kha did not have a well balanced flavor. Pork pad prik king, nam kha tod, and crispy catfish salad are not super memorable, other than the salad dressing being amazingly salty. One other thing I notice, none of the food was brought out piping hot, just lukewarm. Even the garlic prawns felt like they had sat for a good 5 minutes, although they were still crispy at least.

I think it's time for people to admit that with the increased volume, the new location, and maybe the staff shortages too, that Lotus of Siam is no longer king of hill. Other than the garlic prawns, I was...

When in Vegas don’t forget to stop by this super popular Thai restaurant. Their crispy shrimp is definitely a must order. I really liked how they carved out the shrimp so people don’t need to peel anything but still left the shell in tact.
