A Spicy Slice of Home for Every Indian Soul Abroad 🇮🇳❤️
When you’re far away from home, especially for Indian students or desis traveling across the U.S., finding food that hits the spice meter right and fills your heart with flavor is a blessing. And that’s exactly what we found at HashTag India in Las Vegas.
We ordered Chicken 65 Biryani and Chicken Fried Piece Biryani and wow, the quantity was absolutely satisfying. It’s not often that a restaurant outside India gets the proportions and masala magic right, but this place sure did. Huge kudos to the kitchen team for not compromising on quality or portion size..a rare win when you’re trying to eat full and feel full.
Important tip for all Indian foodies: If you’re ordering here, don’t forget to clearly mention that you want it spicy like real Indian spicy. Otherwise, you might miss out on the full flavor blast that gives you that true biryani sensation we grew up with.
They also serve ThumsUp, that nostalgic Indian soda we all crave with biryani.. a nice touch!!
On the service side, we did notice something that could be improved. The place seems to employ many young students, which is great and understandable, but also leads to a few service hiccups. When we ordered naan and rice items, both were served together which isn’t ideal.
A better approach would be: • Either ask the customer if they’d prefer both items together or sequentially. • Or, if naan is served first, wait before bringing the rice so neither goes cold or loses texture.
Please note. In our case, my uncle (visiting from London) requested the rice to be served later, but the staff member simply said, “It’s already prepared so I’m leaving it here,” and walked off. That moment could’ve been handled more thoughtfully. These are small but important service cues not formal training, just basic courtesy and reading the customer’s comfort. Especially when your audience is a mix of international travelers and homesick food lovers, such attention can turn first-timers into regulars.
On Ambience, Vibes & Cleanliness The restaurant had a simple, clean setup, not overloaded with dramatic decor just peaceful and pleasant. The only mild downside was the loud Telugu music videos playing in the background. While we enjoy regional pride, the visuals felt unnecessarily flashy and sometimes made guests a little uncomfortable due to the revealing content on screen. Maybe some neutral instrumental Indian background music could maintain the cultural vibe while offering a more relaxed dining atmosphere for all age groups.
And before I forget kudos to the team for the clean and well-maintained bathrooms! As someone who values hygiene while dining out, that stood out and deserves appreciation.
My genuine Final Thoughts,
HashTag India is an amazing spot for dinner, especially when you want to end your day with a comforting, spicy Indian meal that doesn’t disappoint. It’s a place I’d definitely recommend to fellow Indian students, travelers, or even tourists who want to get a taste of India in Vegas minus the overhype.
And most importantly, cheers to the chef! The flavors were fantastic, the food was fresh, and that warmth in every bite reminded me of home. ❤️
P.S. Would love to see them roll out some combo offers maybe a 2-biryani deal or student discounts without touching the quantity they currently offer. That would truly make it a five-star experience!

1/5 Stars - Extremely Disappointing Experience
We visited this restaurant on a weekday evening, expecting a decent dining experience. Unfortunately, our expectations were shattered. Despite calling ahead at 6 pm to book a table for 9 people, we were told they don't take reservations and to just walk in. When we arrived at 10:30 pm, we were left standing at the front door for 5 minutes without being greeted or seated.
The lady in the black uniform and hat finally acknowledged us, but only to tell us to sit at a dirty corner table. We had to clean the table ourselves, and even then, the staff only used a napkin to wipe it down.
It took 10 minutes for someone to take our order, and when they did, we were told they were out of several items. We asked to expedite our order due to the late hour and the presence of children, but were told the system was down and they had to prioritize online orders.
What's even more surprising is that this poor service occurred on a weekday, when you'd expect the restaurant to be less busy. It's clear that the staff is not equipped to handle even a moderate number of customers.
After waiting 20 minutes without receiving our appetizers, we spoke to the owners and waitress, who told us we'd have to wait another 30 minutes. No updates, no complimentary snacks, and no effort to make us feel valued as dine-in customers.
We waited for a total of 40 minutes, and finally, we had to leave without eating anything. To make matters worse, we had to eat our own birthday cake, which we had planned to enjoy after dinner. It was a shame and a humiliation.
As a restaurant, it's unacceptable to prioritize online orders over in-person customers. You ruined our evening, and we won't...
Read moreDangerous! The samosa was clearly cooked from frozen and still had a near-frozen spot inside when served and eaten. And yes, I was stupid enough to think "I'll be okay", but I did get the runs the next day (today) and I eat Indian/Bangladeshi food 3 times a week so it's not about a change of diet.
On the plus side they give you a sealed bottle of water, which they don't charge for instead of tap water, which is a nice touch. My friend and I ordered one order of samosas (2), Hyderabadi Mutton Curry (medium spice), Hashtag Chicken Biryani (medium) and Garlic Naan.
The spice levels were good. The Hyderabadi Mutton Curry had the mutton on the bone so you had to watch out for small slithers of bone in the sauce. The flavour was good but it was served with a large portion of boiled rice included - but the menu doesn't mention this. The Hashtag Biryani was a MASSIVE portion, and no way would we have ordered that with the mutton curry if we'd known that the mutton curry included rice.
The Garlic Naan was good but underneath the piece of paper that our fresh naan was placed on in the tray (so between the tray and the paper) was an old piece of plain naan that appeared left over from a previous customer. They'd just put paper over it and served it back to us cold. Bizarre!
Finally, the service, whilst friendly enough, wasn't very attentive. Beyond being seated and given the water, I had to wave to get attention after quite a long wait to both place our order and to get the bill afterwards.
All in all, whilst some of the food was tasty, I can't ever recommend or return to a restaurant that serves dangerously cold food, even if it is a case of 'more fool me' for eating it.
The best bit was the melodramatic Indian action movie on the TV. That was entertaining.
