I have been to this restaurant twice, and for the sake of the food I am giving it 4 stars. The food is 5 stars, but I knocked off a star due to management.
I'd like to start this review with the fact that we were in Vegas for a major event, the Rock N Roll half marathon. It draws in around 20,000 people from all over the world. It's a very well known event with a ton of publicity, so one would assume management at Vanderpump A Paris would be aware of that and plan accordingly.
Our first time here was in February 2023. The second time was Feb 25, 2024. In 2023, we didn't have a reservation, and had to wait like an hour and a half, which is not good when you just got done running 13.1 miles and are famished. I learned my lesson from that and made a reservation for 2145 this time around. We arrived at 2130 just so we wouldn't be late. We were finally seated at 2220, which is 35 minutes after our reservation, 50 mins after arriving at the restaurant. The people at the front check in area gave us no explanation as to why, despite having a reservation in place for WEEKS ahead of time, we were still waiting. All they would tell us is that they were "running behind".
At 2220, we are finally seated, and no one comes over to serve us. Ten minutes go by, so my husband goes to the bar to get drinks at least. As he is at the bar, the waiter comes to our table and the first thing he says is "I am so sorry! I know, and I am so so sorry, It's just me right now". Since we have had ample amount of time to look at the menu, I order everything we want, let him know my husband is at the bar grabbing our drinks and ask him what he meant by it's just him right now.The waiter proceeds to tell me that he is literally the ONLY waiter for the entire restaurant. There's like 20+ tables full at this point in time! They sent two waiters home early, and one waiter WALKED OFF THE JOB (like, what!?), so this left this poor guy BY HIMSELF. I'd like to clarify that, again, this is the same night as a MAJOR event, one whose finish line is right outside of the hotel. Honesty, integrity, and an apology go a long way for me, so all of my frustration is directed not at our waiter, but at the people who thought it was a good idea to leave him by himself. To those people, I say you should be ashamed of yourself! It was a packed restaurant, on the night of a major event, and you sent home two waiters early? I sincerely hope you not only reward our waiter for sticking it out and not walking out, but that you apologize to him. MANAGEMENT, YOU OWE HIM AN APOLOGY.
It is not okay to treat your employees like this. I saw a few folks (busboys, the hostesses, etc) helping to clear tables, but what I didn't see is the managers out there helping this guy wait tables. All they needed was a pen and paper. They could have, and SHOULD have been taking orders for him. A good leader leads by example, and I didn't see this. What would they have done if this waiter also walked off of the job like his coworker did? Honestly, what would you have done, management? Again, you owe him an apology, and you should thank him for not leaving you high and dry because he could have, and probably should have.
The food is phenomenal, and because of that we will be back. But I sincerely hope you start treating your employees better and that you plan accordingly. Even if 4 waiters had been there, that would have been cutting it close on a night with an event this large. Next time if there is a situation, try being honest with the customers, especially those that have reservations. Had they told us at 2145 that they were running behind and only had one waiter, we would have been more patient instead of getting frustrated from the start. It was just a completely chaotic jumbled mess, no one was taking charge and leading, and no one appeared to know what was going on. In the mass confusion, they even seated 2 parties of 2 before they seated us, which made me even more frustrated because we had reservations. I hope to see a major improvement on...

All in all it was a fine experience, we normally have the American habit of ordering too much food but we accidentally way overdid it this time. Honestly, you could go and order small plates for the table and dine tapas style and it would be more than enough to make a solid meal.
The Bird Cage was a charcuterie offering with delicious slices of meats paired and wrapped around sweet and spicy peppers and olives, baguette rosettes, house made chips served with a delicious mustard, and other accouterments.
The Truffles was a line of spectacular little baked breads packed with Brie, black truffles, and brushed with truffle honey. At first I thought the abundance of truffles might be overwhelming but the Triple Creme Brie and hone did an outstanding job of balancing it out.
The Goat Cheese Cakes were also an excellent show of balancing a cheese that can easily be overwhelming but when prepared and paired correctly it makes a wonderful dish. Vanderpump fried these little balls of cheese in a light and sweet breading, then served them around a mix of thinly sliced apple vinaigrette and candied walnuts, which were given a light splash of clover honey. Again, and excellent show of balancing!
I know I usually give positive food reviews but I feel the need to bring the displeasure with the good when it happens...so here we go.
For mains and sides, we were almost a little disappointed and I think that because the "small" plates were so delicious we had very elevated expectations of our main courses. Our friend and I ordered The Bourgignon Pot Pie, and it was quite delicious for a filet tip pot pie, but it didn't meet the expectations set by the starters. I would definitely have it again, but it honestly was just good when I was expecting amazing. Again, nothing wrong with it, but the stage set by the small plates left a high bar to meet and it just didn't happen.
My Wife's choice of Crispy Chicken Confit was essentially a French take on fried chicken and was possibly the biggest letdown of the meal. They were tough, lacked any amount of flavor that would make them stand out, and were quite frankly...just chicken fingers. Point to be made here, it's probably hard to impress southerners with fried chicken because...we love fried chicken, however this chicken would easily be passed over for most fast food restaurant's fried chicken.
Lastly, the sides. Le Mac was a must (because southerners) and it was the 2nd biggest letdown of the meal. I don't know if having Mac at Hell's Kitchen set the bar high or if this dish just didn't bring its "A game", but it simply failed to impress for whatever reason. It was just a rather "meh" Mac and Cheese dish. The Gruyère Frites (fries) were good, I would have loved to have them as a side with a different meal (they didn't pair well with our mains) but they also didn't pack anything into them that would have drawn me to them despite the fact that I was quite stuffed from the rest of the meal. Again, no real complaints with the fries, but they were also nothing to write home about.
The decor, atmosphere, and service we experienced were also amazing, which made for a great dining experience that I would love to have again. All in all, I would absolutely go back for a meal but next time around I would be sticking to the "small" plates the whole way.
I'm giving the 3 stars mostly because part of the meal far exceeded our expectations and unfortunately I don't feel as if the latter part of the meal was worthy of sharing the same table as...
Read moreI want to preface this review by saying I am a fan (for want of a better word) of Lisa Vanderpump. I watch her shows and, having never visited the US before, was keen to visit her restaurants in the areas I would be staying. It only worked out that I got to TomTom in LA and Vanderpump a Paris in Vegas. I made a reservation for the latter well over a month in advance, as Mum and I were travelling around the west side of America for the entire month of January, and ending our trip in Vegas, so the restraraunt was the final dinner of our trip and I wanted to go out in style. I tell you all this to demonstrate how much I wanted to love Vanderpump a Paris. Please also note that I am not someone who only leaves reviews when things go wrong. I much prefer writing good reviews.
However, I had a very mediocre visit at Vanderpump a Paris and am disappointed. I will start with the positives, as praise is always given where due:
Positive: *Ambience - lovely setting and lighting, and not too much disruption from the casino floor. The temperature is kept just right. Design - As is Lisa's style, this restaurant is beautiful and opulent. I also got a little kick out of spotting Nick Alain there, greeting some friends and seemingly explaining some of the design choices. • The hostess(?) Lady who checks you in, was friendly and clearly very busy but professional.
I had the Goats cheese starter and it was A-Class!! Absolutely delicious, good portion, and served with perfect accompaniments ** Mum had the Coq Au Vin (Chicken) Pot Pie for her main and thought it was really Flflavoursome and a good sized portion. *** *We had soft drinks and they were both replaced before we'd even finished the first. Our water was also constantly topped up. *Our reservation was for 7.30pm. You do need to check in and if there's a queue, still join the back of it but you will be called in order and we were seated very close to our reservation time.
Negatives: *We were seated just behind the counter where the orders are processed. Not a massive issue but it is a bit of a deadzone in the overall venue, especially when staff gather there to chat, and other patrons are using it as a walkway or doing there lovelocks immediately behind you. *We both ordered a portion of Dauphinoise Bites as a side. However, these were not recognisable as dauphinoise. Thinly sliced stacks of potato, seemingly deep fried, with a tiny amount of gruyère grated on the top. No evidence of a creamy filling and next to no flavour. Mum even requested some salt for the potatoes (which is not available on tables) and the waiter agreed but just never returned with it. I had the Butter prawns for my main. The portion was a bit light but I can take this from a french-themed fine dining place. However, the pasta and prawns were cold. The sauce was ok but not much to it and the prawns tasted of absolutely nothing. Our waitress asked me how I everything was. I'm not one to complain but I politely replied with "ok" and a facial expression that can be easily interpreted as "mediocre at best". The waitress simply mirrored my words and expression back to me and walked away. I wasn't looking for a resolution, which is why I hadn't brought it up myself, but if you're asking customers whether they're satisfied and have no intention of doing anything when they're not, then please don't ask in the first place.
Great potential and I sincerely hope others have a fantastic time here, in fact I'd even love to return and try again but it was just a little bit of a...
