The Bedford by Martha Stewart is a dining experience that beautifully encapsulates the essence of home-style cooking elevated to a sophisticated level. As someone who has admired Martha Stewart since her "Martha Stewart Living" days, I was thrilled to finally step into a space that embodies her culinary philosophy and aesthetic. However, itâs important to note that this experience comes with a price tag that makes it the most expensive lunch Iâve ever had.
Upon entering, the ambiance of The Bedford strikes you immediately. The decor is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance, featuring warm wood accents, natural light pouring in through large windows, and tasteful culinary-themed artwork adorning the walls. The layout offers a cozy yet upscale feeling, reminiscent of a charming New England home. However, I did find the atmosphere to feel a bit rigid at times. While the decor is stunning and the attention to detail is evident, the overall vibe seemed slightly formal, which might not resonate with those looking for a more relaxed dining experience.
Now, letâs talk about the food, which is undoubtedly the highlight of the visit. I ordered the brown butter and sage pierogis, and they were nothing short of incredible. These pierogis are a tribute to Marthaâs love for comfort food, and they truly lived up to the hype. The dough was perfectly tender, and the filling was rich and flavorful, enhanced by the nutty essence of the brown butter and the aromatic touch of fresh sage. I can confidently say they were the best pierogis Iâve ever hadâa delightful blend of textures and flavors that made each bite a joy.
In addition to the pierogis, the menu features a variety of dishes inspired by Martha's family recipes, including seasonal salads, hearty entrĂ©es, and decadent desserts. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients is evident in every dish, showcasing Marthaâs commitment to culinary excellence. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, providing great recommendations and ensuring that we had everything we needed for a pleasant meal.
However, despite the delicious food and lovely service, I did encounter a downside later that night when my stomach was quite upset. Iâm not entirely sure if it was due to the meal or something else, but it did put a slight damper on the overall experience. Itâs worth mentioning that dining at a high-end restaurant like The Bedford means richer, more indulgent dishes, which can sometimes lead to an upset stomach, especially if youâre not used to such heavy meals.
Despite this hiccup, I would still consider returning to The Bedford. The pierogis alone are worth a second visit, and I would love to explore more of the menu. The restaurant also offers a selection of curated wines and craft cocktails that pair beautifully with the food, adding another layer to the dining experience.
In summary, The Bedford by Martha Stewart is a unique culinary journey that combines elegance with heartfelt comfort food. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the dishes, particularly the outstanding pierogis, makes it a worthwhile indulgence. For any Martha Stewart fan or anyone looking to experience a taste of her culinary legacy, The Bedford is a must-visit destination. I left feeling inspired and grateful to have finally tried some of Martha's cherished...
Read moreWe just got back from Vegas and Martha Stewartâs Bedford was the first place we went upon landing in Vegas. I usually plan out our trips and my Mom wanted to try The Bedford. I love Martha and weâve been a fan for a long time so we were excited to go. We made a reservation in advance because I had no idea how crowded the restaurant would be. In order to make a reservation you have to put down a $25 deposit on each person that is nonrefundable if you do not cancel with advance notice (fair enough).
Food: We got the bread basket appetizer. The basket came with a sour dough type of roll/bread, cherry sweet bread and large flat bread with dried veggies in it (tomatoes, tomatillos, onion, etc). This was served with butter. It was great. I liked the cherry sweet bread the best but the entire basket was nice. My only complaint with the bread basket is that at many other restaurants in Vegas (and Chicago) you will get really nice bread baskets that are included with your meal. It was kind of weird that this bread basket wasnât complementary with your dinner for the price that you are paying for dinner (over $100 per person).
I split the whole roast chicken with my Mom. It was probably the best chicken we have ever had in our entire life. They bring the chicken out table side and carve it in front of you. It has a type of stuffing between the skin and meat. Mmmm so so good.
The baked potato wasnât anything special. It literally is a russet potato slammed on the table with some basic toppings. Meh⊠flavor.
My husband had the truffle pasta and it was really flavorless. We have had truffles many times and these didnât taste of anything. I tried the pasta to see if I could taste any truffle and didnât taste anything either. I was shocked. If you have ever had truffles they are very flavorful and have a very distinct flavor. You canât miss it. For being the star of the show (dish) it should have tasted of truffles. Unfortunately, the dish was boring and tasteless.
Because of the disappointing truffle pasta I let my husband eat half of my chicken. He had part of the breast and leg/wing. He also loved the chicken. We all agreed the chicken was the best chicken weâd ever had.
We didnât get any cocktails or dessert at Marthaâs so I cannot comment on that. We were planning on heading out later for drinks.
Service: Our waiter was MIA most of the time. He came took our order and we saw him one more time at the end of the meal to present us with the check. Not good, I mentioned to him that the truffles had no flavor AFTER paying the bill and he came back to me with an attitude. He basically implied that we must not have very developed taste palettes because truffles were a very distinct flavor. Very weird interaction.
I expected more from Marthaâs. I hope they are just working out the kinks being new and things will improve for next time. If you go⊠get the...
Read moreI love me some Martha. So much so that when I saw that The Bedford would be opening just before my work trip to Vegas I decided to bring my wife along on the trip so we could experience this restaurant together. The decor, the ambiance all of the Marthaness shall we say, was on point. Itâs gorgeous! The overall experience however was truly lacking. Our table was not ready when we arrived for our reservation. We waited maybe 15-20 minutes which wasnât terrible. After being seated, we waited another 10-15 minutes for our âservice teamâ to appear. We were parched and promptly ordered sparking water and a couple of the signature cocktails. Our server didnât seem sincere but did make some suggestions as to popular items when asked. Hereâs where it really starts to go downhill. We waited AGES for our water. In reality it was probably 20 minutes but I was so hot and thirsty and also knew I was probably paying $400 for this meal and when I pay $400 for a meal for 2 people, I expect not to have to wait long for something as simple as a glass of water.
The water appeared literally seconds before our crab cake and bread basket were delivered. The cocktails came at the same time. The crab cake was creamy with big chunks of crab meat and the bread basket was AMAZING.
For the main course, we had the Pierogies with the upgrade ounce of caviar (I wanted the full experience and was happy to pay $150 for this dish alone, it was worth it!). We also ordered the halibut with corn chowder that our server recommended. It was extremely bland. Cooked perfectly but not seasoned at all.
We had to ask someone else for a second round of drinks as we had been sitting with empties for ages and no sign of our phony server.
When the drinks were delivered he finally asked about the main course. We clearly hadnât touched the halibut and I told him it was not seasoned properly. He asked if I wanted some salt?!?! What I wanted was for him to take it off my table and out of my face (and off of my bill). Needless to say I ended up paying for the bland bite of halibut.
We got the lemon meringue for dessert and had our extra caviar and bread basket boxed up. The dessert was delivered without cutlery. We had to wait serveral minutes for someone to notice we werenât able to eat it and bring us spoons.
After we had finished our dessert, paid our $460 bill (with tip), drank our cocktails and had nothing left to do we sat⊠and sat⊠and finally I asked a nearby manager if I could have my boxed food so we could leave and he said âMARTHA DOESNT LIKE YOU TO BE RUSHEDâ. LOLOLOL
Iâm sure Martha doesnât like to sit and wait 15 minutes without a drink to take her caviar home, or without silverware to eat her dessert with, or FOR...
