I have always loved Cracker Barrel, even since I was a kid. I even happily worked there for several years and in two different states. But since founder Sam Evans passed away they have been declining and this visit was better than some but still not up to the quality Cracker Barrel standards. I will start with the positive. First our server was very nice and she kept my tea filled. My husband's coffee was kept filled and warm as well. The biscuits were like delicious pillows. It's been a while since I have had them that good. I liked that even after sitting on the table for awhile the gravy and grits didn't turn thick like paste. Okay now for the not so good parts. When we first walked in even though they were not busy nor was the dining room full by any means but the hostess seemed to be moving in slow motion. We asked for a kids menu and were given 2 but no crayons. Instead of seating making sure we had space were seated right next to another table which is fine if your busy not when you are half empty. My bacon came out visibly burnt. The hash brown casserole which is one of my favorites was mushy and had no texture. The dining room was very cold especially for a rainy spring morning. The divider wall next to use didn't look like it had been wiped down in quite awhile as seen in the photo included. I did not once see a manager enter the dining room.

Usually a great restaurant. Waitress took order within 5 minutes of sitting. We were in center of restaurant she passed us numerous times. 20 minutes later she brings our drinks. We noticed people coming in after us, sitting near us ordering food, finishing their meals and leaving. 1 hr later our food arrives. My steak was black tasted like the garlic cap came off on my steak. My granddaughters chicken was so dried out she couldn't eat it. (For her to pass up food it must of been bad.) I honestly believe waitress forgot to put order in. I could understand if they were short staffed, or busy. The restaurant was not busy numerous empty seats. This was a horrible ending to a night out with the kids. I shouldn't have to run to a fast food restaurant because children are hungry after i pay a mini fortune on meals that we couldn't eat.

My daughter enjoyed her macaroni and cheese I got the old timers breakfast. It was not good. It comes with eggs, however you want them two eggs, bacon A side of biscuits and gravy. I got the eggs biscuits and gravy, cheese, hashbrowns, and bacon and it was subpar at best The service was good except I gave him four stars because he didn’t seem to really try and make it right when the bacon which I ordered us extra crispy came out very floppy and rubbery, and then it was thrown back and it was put back on a plate after being in my mouth taken back into the kitchen and cooked again and came out very rubbery and very hard to chew and after I said that nothing was done about it. It just seemed like OK well, sorry you didn’t enjoy it Food should never go back after it’s in your mouth and into the kitchen

We stopped in later into the evening. We waited a out 10 mins for someone to take our drink orders, then another 15 minutes before our assigned waitress came to get our order. We waitress never greeted us. It was immediately "Do you know what you want." We ordered our meals.

After 20 minutes passed, another person brought our meals. My husband's meal was not what he ordered. It was obvious based on temperate that our food had been sitting in the back waiting for a while.

I made eye contact with the manager as he was walking around, but he never stopped by our table. Mid-way through my mashed potatoes, I discovered a large black lump and several small black lumps (not sure what it was, but it tasted like dirt). While we were eating, our waitress never checked in on us. Our water glasses went empty. Finally a 3rd waitress dropped off our bill. She never said anything and she was on her way.

After another 10 minutes, I flagged down the server that dropped off our bill to ask for a box. She said sure, then disappeared for 17 minutes while we waited.

At the checkout line, several waitresses were cashing out their tips for the night at chit-chatting with the cashier. We waited for 3 employees to cash out, before they realized we were there.

We paid our bill and the cashier asked how or service was. My husband told him that it was not the best, the cashier said he would report it to management.

I normally love this chain, but this one was horrible. I will not return to...

If I could give it a zero I would. Horrible service. After close to an hour wait and seeing two tables that were seated after us, order after us get their food and finish eating we still didn't have our food. Our waiter disappeared after getting our initial drinks and taking our order. We flagged him down for another coffee and he just said someone would bring it. We finally flagged another waitress down who got our coffee. Still no check in from our waiter. When we finally saw him we again had to get his attention. Asked when our food was coming as at this point it was an hour. He got snippy and said he didn't know why we were "coming at him" and that he doesn't control when the food comes out. We told him to at least go check as we needed to get on the road home. He rolled his eyes and went to the kitchen. Came back and said our order "must have gotten lost" as it never got turned in. Said he'd put it back in and would comp the coffee. We told him no thanks, at that point we left as we needed to get back on the road and couldn't wait another 20 minutes. He just said ok and walked away. On the way out I spoke to a manager who didn't seem to care and just said "ok". We've never had bad service at any Cracker Barrel before and it's our go to place for breakfast while traveling. We were highly disappointed...
