I travelled from Canada to Perrysburg, OH for my son's soccer tournament saw the sign for the restaurant across the street from the hotel. My husband loves Chinese food and instantly looked up its rating, he was pleased and off we went. Only to be met by a hugely disappointing racist couple (the owners), especially the woman. A man greeted us and offered us some menus as we explained that we would like to order takeout. As we were looking through the menu out popped this women from the kitchen stating loudly "we only make authentic Chinese food, nothing fried or deep fired and (pointing at me) your people called the police because they didn't...blah blah" I tuned her out at that point because I was completely floored...”my people” I replied…”these are my people”, I said pointing to my husband and two young girls. I was thinking I am a Canadian woman of Caribbean heritage...my people? What? As she was trying to explain herself I had no idea what she was saying I was still in shock…Honestly I don’t know what happened between her comment and us trying to order from the menu, we were about to order, a basic Chinese food item…fried rice only for her to come again from where she was to say that they don’t have any…what at 6:00 pm in the evening, the place closes at 11:00 pm and no fried rice of any sort…I can see the man was trying to say to the ignorant woman they can make it, then she changed her mind and said she would make some fresh for us….so the gentleman that was there as we walked in must have left with old stale fried rice! During all this my husband was talking to the man actually being quite sarcastic with them and teasing about the “authenticity” of the Chinese food as they readily point out very blatantly in our face stating the mentioned she had received in the local paper and that the food is very good…tooting their own horn. But forgetting to mention their subtly and blatant racist ways. Why didn’t we just leave, I guess the Canadian in us was too strong and I felt so sorry for them, they were so unaware of what they were doing, it seemed so natural for them…I need to all find all listings online of this restaurant to warn people especially “African Americans” and black people from all walks of life STAY FAR AWAY from this place. Then to top it off, once she found out we were Canadian she said "Ooops...I gave you too much" she thought we were locals...I am not making this up and she was not joking. Really that is how you treat your out of town guess? Yum Yummy is...
Read moreMy experience here was once in a lifetime. Ping (the owner) doesn't treat you like a customer, so don't go in there thinking she will. She treats you like a real friend. She says whatever comes first to her mind, which means anything you do, she will express her thoughts about it.
As far as customer service goes, it all depends on how YOU are as a person. If you go in there annoyed, you will most likely have a bad experience. But if you go in there happy, you will be treated with love.
She only has 2 employees. Her and her husband. She cooks everything herself in the back with REAL ingredients.
As far as the food tastes, you can tell there is a lot less oil in it, and the shrimp are real, large sized shrimp. It tastes amazing, and i really enjoyed it.
She is somewhat impatient, since she is the cook, hostess, waiter, and pretty much anything else the resturant needs, she tries to get you to go a little faster so that she can cook the food, so you won't have to wait long. Other than that, she is an amazing person.
The dining room is closed for the pandemic, but she does allow you to sit in the dining room to order. No masks or temperature checks are required, you just can't eat in.
When picking up, i suggest you dont take too long to pickup. While she was cooking our food we overheard her leave a voicemail threatening to send some guys number to the police for not picking up his food. But he called back stating he has some emergency and he'd pay her double next time he came.
She is just vert dufferent from many resturants, and thats what i truly love about yum yummy.
She doesn't strive to make you happy, she treats you like she feels you should be treated.
When we went to pay, i put a $5 tip on the receipt for her, she crossed it off, and wrote 2 on it instead. It was the most surprising thing i have EVER seen someone do. And even after that, she gave us some fortune cookies, stating that she never gives them out.
I really loved this place, and would come everyday just to talk to ping, but her food is...

Run by an older Chinese/Taiwanese couple (Romeo and Juliet!) , Ping makes an excellent stir fry while “ the man” takes orders and serves drinks. It may not sound like it, but it is truly a unique experience with a surprising amount of customer loyalty, for those of us that are fine with getting a curry when we ordered Sichuan (because it was a good remedy for the flu), or not being allowed sweet and sour(because she heard about our blood sugar problems) or getting a fresh boa bun (Amazing!) or Mandarin doughnut without milk (why do people eat this!).
Menu is more of a suggestion than a hard an fast rule, you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit, will vary based ingredient access. Pings makes a homemade sauce that will vary in heat based on freshness of sauce and how hot the peppers from her garden were.
Devout Christian and will happily talk about it along with the latest Chinese communist party “news” - bet you didn’t know the Dali Lama drinks his tea out of the skulls of his enemies, did ya, but the CCP knows. Also made us watch part of the CCP 100th anniversary parade on YouTube (although YouTube is banned in China so…)
Ping recently became a US Citizen, had to show everyone the picture of her waving goodbye to the Chinese flag, it was great.
Yep, you get to know the owners REALLY well if you become a regular, and they get to know you well too. Expect a call if you don’t show up on your normal day to check to make sure everything is okay.
Could not recommend more highly. Also refuses tips, so I find the best thing to do is drop money on the floor, if she finds it before you leave the parking lot, she will run after...
