Upon first entering our room, it smelled strongly of mold and cigarettes. Keep in mind, this was a non smoking room. The sink also didn't drain. There were many holes in the walls. There was even black mold in the corners of the shower.
When I went back to the office to request a new room, they said all they had available was a room with two full size beds. This wouldn't suffice, being that me and my fiancé were on our anniversary trip, and would like the opportunity to at least cuddle without feeling cramped.
Upon that, the bathroom lights were burnt out. I then returned to the office for a second time to tell them that it was unsatisfactory, to which they then offered another room with a king bed, but made us wait around 20 minutes to replace the lock on the door, which still did not work with our key card.
Upon entering the room, we inspected everything, and discovered that the lights in this bathroom worked, but only if you smack the side of it with your palm.
The air conditioner was held together by duct tape, and the screen on the front was completely missing. This wouldn't be a big deal, if it only worked. It didn't even produce cold air. It would have been nice to retreat to an air conditioned room after spending all day at the "#1 Zoo in the Nation" in nearly 100° weather.
The toilet also didn't flush correctly. You had to use the handle many times for even liquids to go down.
Their sites advertise flat screens in each room, yet the TV's seemed to have come from 1998.
They also advertise that they are about 3 miles from the zoo, yet we had to drive about 20 minutes on the freeway to get there.
Pros: No (apparent) bugs....
Read moreStayed here two nights. People were friendly and I paid cash for my room also had to pay a deposit of $50 (they wanted $60 but I didn’t have it) and have the handicap room checked out before I could get my deposit back. Like me and my 73 year old sister were going to party and break stuff up. Lol. The place looked really clean (the floors were not carpeted which I liked) but then I spilled my coffee and had to wipe it up. And it was very clear that they don’t mop these floors very often. And don’t know what it was, but on the first night something for sure bit my left knee several times and the palm of my left hand many times and kept me awake scratching for both nights. You can even see the bites on my palm. And then on the second night something bit me on my neck leaving a big bump and itching like crazy. I DID check everything out for bed bugs when we got there and no sign anywhere. This had to be spiders or something else but don’t know what it could have been. Here it is Monday and I’m still miserable with the itching and the palm of my hand is so sore from the digging I have given it. I’ve never had anything bite me on the palm of my hand like this before. Anti itch spray isn’t helping a bit. And my neck is swollen pretty bad where I got bit. Still really don’t know what it was that bit me so beware to maybe check things out to see if you can find anything that could bite you in the night. On the bright side there were many stores close by if you had time to shop, which we didn’t and it was a great location to where...
Read moreTerrifying Stay! Abused by staff! We were threatened by the maid who looked and acted like a prison escapee. She was angry that we were still in the room at 9:30 a.m. and demanded that we leave. When we refused she kicked and banged on the door and then when I came out she kept moving and bouncing toward me like she was getting ready to hit me! I have her on video doing this. She then went to the room beside ours and kept banging on the shared wall, it was obvious that she was slapping the wall. When I called the front desk the man who answered was very rude because I made the mistake of thinking he was the same man who'd checked us in. The man who checked us in was of Indian descent and so...'how dare I confuse him with a person from India!'. For the record, they're both FROM Ohio and have an Ohio accent. I also have him on video making that same statement and then making fun of my southwestern accent, only he called it a southern accent and suggested that people with a southern accent are mentally deficient. Apparently with all his superior intelligence he didn't notice I was holding my phone up and recording him. When I wrote the general manager I was offered 25% off my next stay. Wow who wants to stay at a place where the maids are thugs and threaten to beat you up and then the desk help makes fun of you? Umm...no thanks...I'll pass. Also, the room was dirty and only had one bath towel and one wash rag. I recommend staying away from this place at any cost, unless you just enjoy being abused by...
