Edited to address the comment from the owners: -Our party was fully arrived and seated by 7pm,with 9/10 people being there by 650.We expressed our appreciation for the accommodation by buying MULTIPLE drinks from the bar, tipping well.We have a group photo with a time stamp if you’d like -You also told us at the END of the night you were understaffed, &multiple tables were open -we let you know up front the food was salty we did request the removal of the board, because our entire meal was a disaster, so we requested the 1 group item to be comped as an apology for the abysmal service that we had, ($89 off a $500+ bill)were very happy to pay the rest of our bill, including the servers tip &chalk it up to a weird night. You tried that line in the restaurant & I told you we would be happy to leave the five meals that were completely untouched but cold due to the fact that they came out an hour past ordering. You backtracked on that line real quick about paying for what we had eaten -no one made a scene, we expressed our concerns calmly, though we were firm on how frustrated we were. Your inability to acknowledge your customers issue was what was causing a scene. Fair &respectful my ass. I wonder what your servers would say since you took their money away for YOUR management issues
10 person party there for a birthday, having made a $100 deposit on the table for dinner. Our server took a long time to come greet us,ask for drink orders. We put those in, We also order the pork board ($89 and not worth it - the grits were the plainest things I’ve ever tasted and everything was either really bland or salty) Server is gone 30 minutes, we do not get any service or acknowledgment from anyone else. She finally brings our drinks, missing 4 of 10 drinks (all sodas, not even alcohol) We are still waiting on the appetizer. 10 minutes later she brings the app and takes our food orders.1 full hour later we had not recieved any of our food, nor had we received the 2nd round of drinks that we ordered. I had to ask for the round of sodas that were originally missing and those took about 20 more minutes to get to us as well. The food came one dish at a time, and one person never recieved their food. The first person got their food 15 min before anyone else was served. Everything else was then brought out within another 10-15 min. So total from the time we ordered to when food came out, it was over 1 hour 15 minutes. The food was mostly cold. 4 ppl asked for boxes immediately as we had then been there for close to 2 hours and we needed to get going. One persons food was so terribly dry it was inedible and they sent it back completely. By this point we were missing an entire meal, and 4 drinks.
We very kindly approached the manager, and told them our issues. They got defensive: told us they were understaffed and they would not be taking food we ate off of the bill. I told them we would happily leave the 6 meals we did not eat and were boxed up and ready to take Home on the table and they could take those off the bill, but the manager quickly backed up on the “you ate it you have to pay for it” line. They then offered to comp the food/drinks we did not receive. They also then took the 20% gratuity off the check, as a “comp”. That’s not a comp - pay your staff appropriately, do not penalize them for your management issues. Our server had apologized for not communicating earlier in the night about being understaffed and overwhelmed. They proceeded to argue with us, the birthday person, &did not offer any other fixes We ended up spending over $400 on mediocre food run by 2 defensive men who could not understand that they simply did not handle their restaurant issues well that night. We ended up finally being able to leave almost 2.5 hours after first being seated - multiple people were hungry, everyone was angry and the birthday person was beyond disappointed. Coming back to the $100 deposit made - they did not remember to include that on our bill. overpaid by $100. We had to call & tell them they did not include our deposit...

From the moment we entered, the aromatic embrace of sizzling bacon set the stage for an extraordinary dining experience that was only enhanced by the warm hospitality of owners Justin and Kelvin, and our fantastic server, Jay.
Justin and Kelvin have truly created a haven for bacon aficionados with their South Philly establishment. The industrial-chic ambiance of Bake'n Bacon is a perfect blend of modern aesthetics and cozy comfort. The attention to detail is evident not only in the decor but also in the carefully curated menu that reflects their passion for quality and creativity.
What makes Bake'n Bacon truly exceptional, apart from the mouthwatering menu, is the dynamic duo of owners Kelvin and Justin. Their presence is felt in every corner of the restaurant, from the well-thought-out interior design to the carefully crafted dishes that pay homage to the versatility of bacon. Justin and Kelvin took the time to greet patrons personally, adding a personal touch that elevated our dining experience.
Our server, Jay, deserves an exuberant amount of special accolades and high praise for going above and beyond to ensure our visit was nothing short of spectacular. Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, Jay guided us through the menu with enthusiasm, recommending standout dishes and ensuring our glasses were never empty. It was clear that Jay took pride in being part of the Bake'n Bacon experience, making our evening all the more enjoyable.
The menu at Bake'n Bacon is a carnivore's dream, featuring an array of bacon-infused delights that cater to diverse tastes. We savored the Burnt Ends and BBQ fried Shrimp appetizer, a delightful combination of crispy bacon and succulent shrimp that set the tone for the gastronomic journey ahead. The BBQ Bacon was another highlight, with a perfect balance of smokiness and savory goodness. It was truly to die for, literally a bacon lover's dream. To mix with that, the bartenders were extremely friendly, and so kind to us. I had the Wake'N Bacon and 22-23, while my wife had the Sparrow and Go Getter, and speaking from my experience alone, the bartender who came up with the idea for the Wake'N Bacon and the other bartender that actually made our drink were absolutely amazing. Everyone involved in our dining experience from the owners, waiter, and bartenders deserve 10's across the board because they made us feel at home with how truly hospitable our experience was. If you're into espresso martinis, please try the Wake'N Bacon. It is literally the best drink I've had in a very long time.
For dessert, we were so stuffed we had to take home the Pound Cake with 2 cups of the amazing caramel bacon sauce they make, and it did not disappoint. The sweet and savory (because of that amazing caramel sauce) combination was a fitting finale to a meal that put an exclamation mark on what was already an amazing experience.
In conclusion, Bake'n Bacon in South Philadelphia is a culinary gem that seamlessly marries fantastic food with a welcoming atmosphere. Justin and Kelvin's dedication to their craft is palpable, and Jay's impeccable service added an extra layer of charm to our dining experience. Whether you're a bacon connoisseur or simply seeking an unforgettable meal, Bake'n Bacon is a must-visit destination in South Philadelphia. We left with satisfied taste buds, grateful hearts, and a promise to return for more bacon-infused delights
Lastly, I cannot speak more highly about that bacon caramel sauce they have. I am begging both Kelvin and Justin to seriously consider bottling that sauce and make it available for sale. I will drive down weekly for that sauce, it is that good. I am an extremely picky sauce person and when I say they have created and perfected a sauce that literally goes well with everything sweet, savory, spicy, and dessert foods, I mean that with every fiber in my being. I recommend everyone at least trying it and letting it change your life the same way it...
Read moreThis restaurant is a very nice and posh. I guess it would be a good way to describe. Parking can be a little challenging, although it is free if you can spot on 11th St. in front of the restaurant on the same block, parking is free all day it’s a little bit of it looks like there’s about 20 spots or so I wasn’t able to find it in the beginning and parked on the side street which was Ellsworth next to the restaurant but it’s only one hour parking. This is due to the residential properties that are on the street which I like I can understand that’s where I found my spot and then eventually had to move my car to an open spot on 11th St.. The owner is Justin Coleman and Calvin Alexander transform this former restaurant establishment into a very nice relaxing atmosphere. When you first walk in there is a bar off to the right a few televisions one for sports and one for local things happening as you’ve seen the pictures there is some dining near the bar area and then there’s a dining room off to the left where we sat one of the owners was gracious enough to give us a tour of the upstairs facilities, which are a quite a sight to see they spared no expense on decor, a great open space with high ceilings and lots of room for private events, and they have an exclusive third floor area that is 90% finished. There are restrooms on this floor, as well as the first floor, which is a huge plus. We were seated immediately by our server Quentin Quentin was always present and was absolutely great. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, there are a few vegan options on this menu, which is nice to see, for an appetizer I chose crispy buffalo cauliflower, which comes with a non-vegan ranch dressing, but they quite a few other dressings that were vegan. I think it might be beneficial to them to pair this with a vegan dressing on the menu, nevertheless, the cauliflower bites were excellent served on a bed of white and red cabbage for an entrée I chose. For my entrée, I chose the vegan meatball sub with smoked chipotle tomato sauce. The meatballs were done perfectly and seasoned very well with an excellent sauce two things that would make the sandwich stand out would be a better choice of bread. The bread was not bad, but it’s easy to tell a par-baked brought in bread, sometimes these breads can easily suck up a sauce, which this did sauces are key when it comes to meatballs, so you may have to go extra sauce to avoid the lack of. Putting this on a fresh baked the Italian roll would make it amazing the second thing I think that would put this over the top would be a nice cashew cheese. A lot of the places that I’ve been to over the past month use cashew cheese. It has mozzarella consistency, and can be used in a variety of ways. These are just some of my personal suggestions again the meatballs were excellent and the sauce was excellent. We had also ordered a lobster roll and being vegan. I relied on everybody else’s opinions, and everyone said the lobster was done perfectly nice and buttery and tender. We also had an order of the bacon lobster Alfredo that had smoked pork belly burnt ends topped with baking crumbles and garlic, garlic butter Alfredo. Everyone loved this dish and it was done perfectly. We also ordered a hot honey salmon which had chard pineapple house slaw served on a brioche bun. Everyone loved this. The salmon was done perfectly nice and seared on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside and they loved the brioche bun. I forgot to mention that they also ordered the Mac mother load to share which was mac & cheese, shaved brisket and baking crumbles, they absolutely loved this also, we ordered quite a few drinks, and I must say their drinks are at the top of their game, including their mock tails. Whoever was tending the bar was doing an amazing job. You’ll see some of the pictures. Hopefully the lighting was good enough. We thoroughly...
