ALL GLUTEN FREE!! See disclosures (lol) at bottom. I am a big fan of Fox & Sons! Every time I come into Philly I come to the Reading Terminal Market to get lunch here. Tbh this is a very unhealthy habit as this is deep fried fair food and I usually get WAY more than I need, but it's so delicious, and for a gluten free person like me, so incredibly rare!! Kira is right in her review--"Did I need a 4 course meal? No." But where else am I going to find these things?? I haven't found gluten free corndogs, onion rings, funnel cake OR deep fried oreos anywhere else, and they are mouthwateringly good. Corndogs are corndogs (although they have some pretty special flavors!) deep fried oreos are deep fried oreos, and funnel cake is funnel cake, but for them to be gluten free is spectacular. And the onion rings are AMAZING no matter who you are. I don't know what seasoning they put on them but man, I dream about it. I want to be clear that all of this food is 1. Very unhealthy, and 2. Very expensive. If you're on a budget or counting calories, you should avoid this place. I should also be clear that if this was normal, glutenous food, I would probably give it 4 stars, as it is indeed still terrific food, but I would dock it a star for the prices. But being gluten free food, I am willing to pay the extra money, even if it doesn't really seem necessary. It's supply and demand, and my demand is high.

I stumbled on this stall while looking for food in this market that would be both vegan and gluten-free - imagine my surprise when I discovered that everything here at Fox & Son Fair Foods is gluten-free and they had vegan cheese curds?! So, obviously, I got the vegan cheese curds. I could have easily gotten a couple other things on the menu that were vegan as well, but I decided to get some Fried Broccoli Bites so I could pretend that I was eating slightly healthier by eating some vegetables. It was a lot of food, and heavy considering both items were deep fried. I could only eat like a third of each, but it meant I got to take some home for my boyfriend to try and snacks for the next couple days. But they were delicious with the dipping sauces that I got with them - they were a little bland without the sauces. The staff taking my order was also very helpful in answering my questions, since I wanted to make sure the vegan cheese curds really were vegan and the recommended sauces were vegan as well. There was a bit of a wait to get the food, as it was close to lunch on a Sunday, so they were quite busy, but it wasn't unreasonable at all. Thank goodness I don't have access to something like this near me - I would be tempted to go too often!

So far we’ve had the corn dog, the Korean dog, the poutine, funnel cake and fried Oreos. (Next time we’ll try the onions and pickles) Of the dogs, I think I preferred the classic corn dog better, but the Korean dog was a very close second. Both super tasty. The poutine was disappointing. The curds were firm cubes. (Probably just follow your heart block) The gravy made everything soggy. I noticed the funnel cake had a much better texture after it cools a little. (This is the theory behind gluten free baked goods too. It’s still cooking inside, cutting too early and you get a gummy texture) The Oreos were a little disappointing. But I did order them at the end of the day. It might have been the fact that I was getting the dregs of the batter and that’s why they stayed squishy. (I also didn’t open the box until at least 15 minutes later. Maybe they steamed themselves too much. With the funnel cake, we opened the box immediately, so it didn’t get a chance to get soggy, so I’m willing to try them again and leave the box open to drive off the steam.) They do have shared fryers with meat dogs in case that’s an issue for you. (But they are fully enclosed in batter, so unlikely to leak all that much.)
