Edited Review: Updating this given that the owner or whoever controls this account does not know how to respectfully deal with unsatisfied customers.
If you do not feel comfortable doing an alteration/removal because it wasn't your work, you should communicate such. Just because I got my nails done at another place doesn't mean that you shouldn't know how to take them off properly. My original complaint was NOT about the application but the removal.
To claim that builder gel cannot be removed with acetone when a quick Google search proves otherwise, demonstrates the lack of knowledge you, the servicer, have about the services you provide. Attached are screenshots from Google that support the fact that builder gel CAN be removed with acetone. Again, my nails were removed improperly because the employee was rushing, not because it couldn't be removed properly.
Unless you come here regularly and have a person you go to, or you're in a rush, I'd steer clear from this place. Rather than take accountability for their poor performance, they rather blame the customer who is going to them because they SHOULD have more knowledge regarding this service.
I've added the shop's response to my original review on here in case they decide to delete it.
Original Review: While my gel manicure and pedicure look decent, I do not appreciate being lied to about the removal of my hard gel. I asked her about soaking it (as it is gel) and my nail tech, named Christy, tells me that it can't be removed by soaking it off. She proceeds to continue ripping them off my nails using a cuticle clipper and the electric filer. My nail looked just as bad as if I got acrylic. I do not appreciate that she cut corners at the sake of my nails. But lesson learned on my part as I didn't do my research before going. Also there is a 1.5% charge to debit/credit cards, but you have the option of paying with venmo, Cash app or cash. Please note that if you pay with an alternative method you cannot receive a receipt for your services. I did not know that until after I paid using venmo. The gel mani pedi was $72 and you have to put a $20 deposit for each person on your reservation, which later goes toward...
Read moreUpdating this review ...been coming here for a year now and not once have I been disappointed. Jenny always does my gel fill ins. But I’ve had other nail techs and they’re all good. Had a gel polish pedicure and it was wonderful. Lasted a long time to. Was referred by front desk at Hilton. They did an amazing job. The man that works there did my manicure. He was super gentle on my sensitive nails and cuticles. Extremely thorough too. He took his time and I could tell he takes great pride in his work. He’s definitely a perfectionist. I got an acrylic fill in with gel polish. He shaped them perfectly. One of the best manicures I’ve ever had. Cost was affordable also at $30. They even finish with a hot towel and a hand massage. I come into Philly once a month. I’ll be back to get my manicures here or even make a special trip to this salon that’s how good...
Read moreThe younger Asian woman uses African American Vernacular English which made me feel very uncomfortable-- she was trying so hard to be a black woman. She also kept cursing which was SO unprofessional. UGH Secondly, I told her a few times that the way she placed my nails was wrong as the acrylic was pointing up instead of straight ( you can see this in the picture with the middle finger). She ignored my comment and felt as if she was too good to change it. Thirdly, I told her I wanted different shades of a particular color but the colors she chose were not different enough, & instead of listening to me when I said that, she proceeded to ignore my request. She thought she was too good to change what I wanted changed--- never going back again. I complained on IG and my complaints were ignored. Go to a black-owned nail...
