10 / 10 would do again.
Lorenzo's Pizza sports a casual, no-frills atmosphere, perfect for a quick bite or a late-night pizza pilgrimage. The décor is unassuming, but the intoxicating scent of freshly baked pizza wafts through the air, setting the stage for a memorable culinary experience. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, this may not be your spot. However, if you're after an authentic Philly slice, you're in the right place.
FAST SERVICE
Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly staff who were quick to take my order. The efficiency of the service was commendable. The employees, while busy, remained courteous and efficient. Lorenzo's takes pride in serving its patrons with a smile, which enhances the overall experience.
PIZZA TASTES AMAZING
The star of the show here is, of course, the pizza. Lorenzo's offers enormous, mouthwatering slices that are generously topped with a perfect blend of cheese and sauce. The sheer size of their slices is enough to impress, but it's the incredible flavor that truly shines. The crust is crisp on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. The tomato sauce has a tangy kick, and the cheese is perfectly melted, creating a harmonious marriage of flavors. The sheer size of each slice is an adventure in itself, making it the ideal spot for those who appreciate a hearty, no-nonsense meal.
GIANT SIZED SLICES TO GO
What truly sets Lorenzo's apart is the size of their slices. Each slice is a true testament to the "go big or go home" mantra, making it ideal for sharing or taking home leftovers. These massive slices are not only a treat for your taste buds but also a conversation starter - the sheer size of your slice is guaranteed to turn heads.
REASONABLE PRICES
Lorenzo's is known for serving gigantic slices, but this can lead to a slightly higher price tag than your average pizza joint. However, the portion size more than justifies the cost. It's well worth the occasional splurge, especially considering the quality and taste of their pizza.
WHAT LUCK TO LIVE CLOSE TO IT
In conclusion, Lorenzo's Pizza on South Street in Philadelphia offers a slice of pizza heaven like no other. Their massive slices, friendly service, and unbeatable flavors make it a must-visit for any pizza lover. While it may lack the upscale ambiance of fine dining, Lorenzo's delivers where it matters most: the taste. I highly recommend a visit to Lorenzo's, just be prepared to be amazed by the sheer size and flavor of their slices. It's a slice of Philly's culinary heritage that you won't...
Read moreThe lines are always so long which is reasonable for a very small shop that clearly has many followers. This also gave the impression that it must be really good pizza of everyone is willing to spend a out 15-30 mins in line. The size of one slice is about a qtr or a jumbo pizza, typical New York style. They only offer toppings on Tuesdays though so if you don't like plain cheese or enjoy customizing this is not the place for you. A slice will run you 3.50 (pricing as of summer 2017) keep your plastic payments at home when eating here as they are a cash only joint. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side which I don't mind but my family doesn't prefer. The crust was good but if you are like me and enjoy a thin crispy crust with hot gooey cheese, sans TMNT, then this like warm, slightly soggy version would not be for you. The one staff member that we did see was nice enough customers seemed a bit on the edgy side though. Being in a long line, in the summer, followed by an equally hot small shop whole trying to maneuver the parmesean, crushed red, garlic and Italian spices made me a bit irritated and anxious too. Clearly they are a staple on South St though as they are always busy. Just not our...
Read moreI’ve been going to this place for over 30 yrs. The slice’s actually used to be slightly larger( if you can believe that) and they were $2.25 a slice! Now they are $6.00! The pizza doesn’t taste like it used to. They did something in the last 6-8 months, they changed the crust, it’s super thin now. The sauce used to have a slightly sweet taste and there was a perfect amount on it. Now there’s barely any sauce on it. They also put so much cheese on it that it slides off when you pick it up to take a bite. If they had terrible service I would have given 1 star. They need to go back to how they used to make the pizza. The crazy thing is, while I was waiting to give my order, another customer asked me when was the last time I was there because the pizza isn’t the same anymore. Everything she said was exactly what I wrote. Too much cheese, not enough sauce ( it doesn’t taste like it used to) crust is way too thin. As I look through some of these reviews there a quite a few that are saying the same thing. I won’t be going back there...
