We enjoyed trying out martabak/murtabakwe had searched for Indonesian desserts because I was craving all the insanely delicious sweets I have had in Indonesia. As it turns out this place sells only martabak, so we ordered one with Nutella that was served in a takeaway box. They also had the savory version but we had already had lunch.
We had reached the shop via by city bike, so packed it up and continued on our way. Big mistake: we didn't pack it upright so when we opened the lid it was really a mess. The upshot: if you have not had martabak before, it's quite high on the sweetness scale but we were happy we got to try it out as there are currently no Indonesian restaurants or shops where we live.
What I had been craving? Never learnt their names: jelly, translucent or spongy sweets made with rice, manioc or other roots/fruits as well as cendol. Looking online perhaps lapis legit, kue dadar, and many others. Hope to find these somewhere on the...
Read moreSince they ask for online review, I will be giving my honest opinion. I bought 4 kinds of martabak and so far the least expensive one, cheese flavor, is our most favorite. But even the cheapest costs $15 per box! However, 1 box serves about 2-3 people so I still think it's a fair price. They claimed to be a takeout place but they place about 3 tables for people to eat in. But be aware, they will not allow customers to use their bathroom. I came all the way from New Jersey to give this place a try but was shocked when they informed me the wait will be 45 minutes and then was told I was supposed to call in ahead to order. Ummm how wqs I supposed to know that??? If that is the case, they could've at least stated that in their website. But the quality of the martabak is one of the best you can find in US. And hopefully as time progresses, they will improve. I wish...

I particularly enjoy starting my day with their savory ground beef and onion martabak. It's a flavorful breakfast option that's both filling and satisfying. While the sweet versions of martabak are a bit too sweet for my taste, they're perfect for those moments when you're craving something indulgent.
The unique taste of their offerings is a testament to the authenticity and care put into each dish. Whether you're familiar with Indonesian cuisine or looking to try something new, Martabak OK in South Philadelphia is a must-visit for a...
