Having heard good things about this place, a friend and I decided to try it for lunch. Given the beautiful weather, we decided to eat outside so I never saw the interior decor.
The service was prompt an efficient. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there.
When the waiter brought menus, I alerted him to my special dietary issues -- I must avoid onions and garlic which make me violently ill. He assured me they could accommodate me depending on the dish.
When I placed my order, I once again stressed my need to stay away from onions and garlic. He assured me the Vegetarian Dumplings and Pad Thai would be safe. So, I happily relaxed and looked forward to a good meal.
When the dumplings arrived, I confirmed they were onion and garlic-free. So, I dug in.
The dumplings were quite good, but not great.
When the Pad Thai arrived, I again confirmed it contained no onions or garlic. This time, the waiter looked annoyed when confirming. I understand his annoyance. After all, this was the fourth time I raised the issue. I would have given me an eye roll at this point.
The Pad Thai was average, at best. The chicken was a bit overcooked. The noodles were perfectly cooked. The bean.sprouts were crispy fresh. The sauce was bland. This dish was a disappointment as I've had far better.
My friend liked his dish though he didn't find it particularly remarkable.
While not great, I was grateful to find a Thai restaurant close to home that was willing to accommodate my needs. I would likely have returned, but ...
When I arrived home 10 minutes later, I took my jacket off and ran to the bathroom to reenact a scene from The Exorcist. While projectile vomiting, I realized that I had been served onion and/or garlic despite having been perfectly clear with the waiter about my dietary needs. As the restaurant failed to take care of me, actually harmed me, I will not return. If you, or someone in your party, has special dietary needs, consider my story a...
Read moreIm so glad my partner took me here for dinner. I must say, I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. This establishment truly deserves a five-star review.
Let's start with the food. I had the pleasure of trying the shrimp summer rolls, deluxe pho, and broken rice meal. We also had decaf hot tea and a complimentary bubble tea. (My review is solely mine and was not affected by receiving a complimentary bubble tea.) The shrimp summer rolls were fresh and delicious, filled with crunchy veggies and fresh shrimp. The deluxe pho, which by the way came in a family size bowl(not kidding), was packed with flavors and came with a very generous portion of tender beef and an assortment of fresh and crunchy herbs and vegetables. And the broken rice meal was a perfect combination of juicy pork chops, crispy veggies, fragrant rice, and something delicious with peanut powder on it. Broken rice meal is kinda like korean bibimbap but vietnamese version. All in all, the food was outstanding and definitely exceeded my expectations.
But what truly made my dining experience memorable was the fantastic service provided by the servers and the manager. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always had a smile on their faces. They were quick to refill my water and check on me to make sure I was enjoying my meal. The meal came really quick and all side accompaniments are not forgotten and served in a timely manner. The manager even came over to say hello and ask how our meal was, which was a really nice touch.
Overall, I highly recommend this pho place to anyone who loves Vietnamese cuisine. The food is top-notch, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I will definitely be...
Read moreI have maybe given a 5-star review about 3 times in the 10-plus years that I've provided reviews - this is one of them and WELL DESERVED! This place was GREAT!! The owner is Kenny and he was extremely pleasant, friendly, kind, hospitable, patient and accommodating. I can't say enough good things about him. Not only did he emanate the optimal attitude of what people in the service industry should portray, but also that of a human being. The world would be a better place with more people like him in it! He took pride in his restaurant, the food and his guests. The food was phenomenal and I wouldn't have expected anything less from such a devoted and passionate person. He also graciously and happily accommodated all of our various requests without any hesitation, from substitutions to extra sauces to custom preferences. We had the A5 Shrimp Summer Rolls, A6 Vegetarian Summer Rolls, and two D8 Special Vermicelli Noodle Bowls, but one was made as is and the other was substituted with grilled chicken and shredded chicken, instead of the pork. All of these dishes were excellent, flavorful, scrumptious and boasted an authentic tastiness of Kenny's home country. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for great food, superb service and a nice atmosphere. Even if you don't like Vietnamese or Asian food, it would be to your benefit to even just stop in here...
