I called them and booked an appointment for a balayage for my birthday and he said he did that. I went in and it took several minutes to be seen. I brought a picture of what I wanted and said I specifically want balayage and the highlights to be the color of the picture - i wanted my roots and most of the hair to remain dark brown(natural) and some copper-colored highlights. They confirmed that they understood me several times. Ladies and gentlemen, my entire head is blonde with the exceptions of the roots. My entire hair was foiled and lightened, with several pieces a light blonde and other pieces an copper-ish, but definitely not a balayage. It was $200+ for balayage and cut but I didn’t get the balayage. If I go back, they’ll add color but I’ll have to keep coming back to make match the roots. I was there for 4 hours and there was very much a language barrier which may have been the main issue. They were also overbooked and kept seeing more people which added to the time. It was one person cutting the hair of 3 to 4 people at a time!

New to Philly and have been looking for a place to get my hair cut but being a Barber I only really have Mondays off and everything is closed. I looked at all the reviews and thought I'd give it a try because the reviews were so good. I went in and immediately was greeted at the door in the most friendly way. A woman washed my hair and gave me a head rub and a shoulder rub. It was so nice and so relaxing. Then I met my new favorite person and his name is Jack. He listened to what I had in mind and we talked over to the cut. He made me feel less scared in a new place. Within the first few minutes of him starting the cut I had a good feeling and OMG was a right. The cut was just getting better and better by the second. Jack is a hair genius! I ended up getting the best cut of my life. I have super thick hair and no one has ever been able to cut it right. I will always come back for his cuts. The prices are great and the place was really clean....

I've relied on Maggie since 2005 for my styling needs. Actually, I don't know what my styling needs are. I'm a guy. I get my haircut, it looks good every time, I buy hair products when I need them, Maggie makes it enjoyable to get shampooed (hate scalding or freezing water, and miss it when you lose an opportunity for a really relaxing scalp massage), and there's always the right amount of sass.

I don't want a pricey salon or a school where someone not-yet-competent's going to mess up the back of my head. I just want to find a reliable person, reliable place, and then never have to worry...
