This place is a joke, I ordered vermicelli noodles with spicy chicken to go, there was barely any vegetables in my food. The food was packaged in a bowl and hot, the lady handed me the food, a napkin and sticks and told me to go my way. I asked her for a plastic bag or brown paper bag and she said they were banned. So I asked her how I was supposed to carry hot food in a bowl and walk across town another 15 minutes to my place. I could see there were stacks of brown paper bags on the counter, so I asked again if I could have one and she said no. I honestly couldn’t believe it. I have never heard or seen anyone decline to package food for a customer. That is the meanest thing anyone has ever done. I got home carrying the warm food in my hands and then proceeded to taste my food. It was very salty. Had only 3 pieces of little chicken and like 2 broccolis. Just the worst experience. I would never order here or recommend anyone to go, they are so unkind. I could give them negative points if...
Read moreRestaurant is clean and there is a kiosk at the front so there isn’t much employee interaction needed. Galbi-tang was good. It wasn’t stellar but it also wasn’t bad. The beef chunks were small but tender and there was one chopstick grab worth of glass noodles. Rice looked and tasted kinda like day-old rice in the cooker.
The fact that kimchi costs extra - and that you have to ask/order for it boggles my mind. Even the food hall in H-mart gives out 2-3 banchan for free.
I maybe a harsher critic because I’m Korean but I wouldn’t recommend this as “good Korean cooking” at all. But if you’re like me and you have a hankering for Korean food during lunch hour - this will do the trick. However, you’re probably best off just making the trek to NE Philly if you can hold off your cravings for a bit.
I haven’t had their “fusion” menus so I cannot speak for that but their kimchi and beef stew are “just fine.”

Read moreWe love this place. Sometimes it scares us because no one is in there, but other times it is plenty packed. But my father was stationed in Korea in the 70s and it's hard for us to find a Korean restaurant that he says is as good as the food he had in South Korea. I have to visit UPENN for follow-ups since my brain surgery, and we will both walk a few miles over to Rice and Mix for some Jap Chae, Bulgogi, and some authentic kimchi. They have "Americanized" kimchi, but apparently it's not the same as real stuff. I love Jap Chae, and I've ordered it with chicken, bulgogi, or tofu, and it's always steaming hot and delicious. I also have a hard enough time finding good Jap Chae, but like I stated above, we walk quite a bit just to get here, and back! It's also right next to some cool stores and tourist stops, so we never feel bored looking...
