We moved here sight unseen from out of state about a month ago! It is myself, my fiancé and our two dogs (one big, one small). We really lucked out and absolutely love it here. We were nervous due to how new the building is, but that is no longer an issue at all.
First, I work remotely. The co-working floor is literally perfect. I am able to wake up every morning and bring my computer(s) downstairs for a luxury remote work experience. This allows me to get out of the smaller apartment and feel as if I am in a true co-op office space. Every detail about the co-working space was thought out. There are tons of different options for your workday, including private offices, a smaller conference room and a larger conference room. The conference rooms have screens to connect to and I have been able to successfully complete an important work meeting in one of the rooms. The design is modern and fabulous, and you can see all of the buildings surrounding you from the floor to ceiling glass windows.
Next, the amenities in this place cannot be beat. There is a concierge to greet you as you walk in at all hours. They are wonderful! The package room is brilliant and even houses a refrigerator for your grocery (or farmer's dog) deliveries. The third floor has a pool, tv lounge, kitchen, grills, and a golf simulator. It is a really cool space to come to, to take calls from, or to just hang out in. The roof sky deck on floor 20 is unreal. You have a 360 view of the city and there are a ton of grills and tables to have dinner up there with your new neighbors or friends. There is also an inside lounge on the roof that I have seen residents work in during the day. Again, there are two television areas for those of you that need to get out of your apartment or are looking for space. The gym has basically everything you could need, is never crowded, and is filled with fancy equipment.
Must love dogs! If you are a dog owner, the place is super pet friendly. There is a green space inside of the building, so you do not have to leave to take your dog out in the middle of the night. There is some green space about 2 minutes from here and Washington Square Park is about a 10-minute walk. That said, the dogs do need to prepare to live in the big city! The dogs were a little in shock at first due to the location and being truly in a city but have begun to adjust to elevator/doorman life. Even our mail woman is amazing and has become fast friends with the pups.
Jessup House is also super focused on community. They have had (or are having) 2 happy hours since we have moved in, breakfast in the lobby, and allow local businesses (such as a farmers box) set up in the lobby to allow residents to try local deals nearby.
The management at Jessup House is wonderful. They strive to make this place great, to keep it beautiful, and to make sure that there is the sense of community that should exist when moving into a beautiful place like this. I had a pretty sad incident take place that the team learned about, and they went out of their way to send flowers and to brighten my day. This was totally unnecessary but exemplary of what you are getting when you move into this space!
As it is a new building, there is a maintenance team on site. Shout out to this team and its talented workers. They have worked hard to immediately meet our maintenance requests that are standard with any sort of new construction. They go out of their way to teach you how to make the most out of the appliances/electronics...
Read moreI've lived here for a year and I recent re-upped my lease. Overall, it has been a very positive experience, though there are some areas for improvement I have outlined below. Pros: The location is very convenient if you are jefferson staff or students, and it's close to a lot of restaurants. In the building, the amenities are unparalleled from what I've seen. Particularly the rooftop lounge, coworking space, and gym. The view from the rooftop is beautiful. The coworking space is bigger and better equipped than I have seen at any comparable buildings, by a mile. Additionally, I have had almost no complaints from a maintenance standpoint, but whenever a minor issue has arisen, the maintenance team has been absolutely wonderful. They are prompt and responsive, and generally lovely to work with. From a building construction standpoint, it seems like the seals are very efficient because our utilities have been way cheaper than we anticipated. Unit specific: I am in a 1 br + den on the south side of the building and I love our view. Also our plants are thrilled with the amount of light we get from the huge windows. As an aside, I was worried I might hear noise from the elevators because my unit is next to them, but I cannot hear them at all. I can sometimes hear neighbors (especially dogs barking), but it was comparable or better than most other places I toured.
Cons: This is a building with many young residents, not all of whom are the most considerate, and whose behavior doesn't match the premium rent being charged here. In addition to the noise and chaos you might expect, there's a general unwillingness to clean up after themselves or leave shared spaces/resources in an acceptable condition. For example, grills are often left filthy, people leave trash out in the common spaces, and leave shared grill tools dirty in the sink. The building has provided sinks and grill brushes so you can easily clean up before/after cooking, but most residents don't seem to take advantage of this. The cleaning staff here are amazing, but it's shameful that they have to go to so much extra effort because people moved in here without any home training. Additionally, the trash chute is OFTEN out of order, because people cannot be bothered to break down their boxes. This leads to trash building up in the trash rooms while teams have to go around clearing the blockages and picking up the accumulated trash and recycling in the rooms. The chutes themselves are nice and easy enough to use, with buttons to switch over between trash and recycling. People just need to take 30 seconds to break down their boxes, but again, there's an overarching cluelessness among some of the residents. Outside of the building, there are several dumpsters that typically obstruct your path if you're walking towards jefferson. It's just gross, especially in the summer, and often requires you to walk in the street with traffic to pass. The final con is a minor one, but one that I was pretty disappointed about: on the greystar site, it originally said that the pool was heated. However, it was frigid the entirety of last summer. I was able to get in it for a short period of time on a particularly hot day, but other than that one instance, it has been too cold to comfortably use. While it appears they have corrected this mistake on the site, it's worth noting if the pool is a major...
Read moreI am giving a 1 star for several reasons 1) Jessup House delayed the start of our move by 6 weeks without informing us verbally of this possibility, 2) they refused to refund our application fee, adequately compensate us for the 6 weeks delay, or assist us in finding temporary housing and 3) we were informed right before our move-in date, which forced us to find housing for a cross-country move on very short notice while on a vacation in a different time zone. We found out only 10 days prior to the scheduled move-in date, and received two voicemails (no email) a week earlier upon this discovery, which didnât state that the move-in date was being pushed or any specifics on why they were calling. I didnât respond immediately since I didnât know it was an urgent situation and was in another country with no data for international calls. As a result of learning about this news last minute, we have spent our evenings apartment hunting instead of fully enjoying our vacation. Jessup could have sent an email specifying the urgent matter in detail in advance. Additionally, they could have refunded the application fee and provided consessions for the 6 week time in which we did not have housing or at least attempted to help us by finding alternative temporary housing options. Its not easy for us to find alternative housing while waiting for the new move-in date, since itâs so last minute to find short term housing and they stated that the move in date could be pushed even further beyond 6 weeks, making the temporary lease term uncertain. When we signed the lease with Jessup, they should have warned us about this possibility, instead it was in fine print in the 100+ page lease document.
On top of all this, 3 weeks ago we contacted them to reserve our elevator to move in (which at the time was more than a month in advance of the move in date), and they told us we could not move in on our scheduled date and would have to wait until the next day because all the elevators had been reserved. We may not have found out about this if we hadnât been the ones to reach out.
Do not lease with this property they are unreliable and not...
