Came in for coffee in the morning. It’s a really cool vibe for chilling. Fair prices, cheaper refills on coffee. Lots of seating. It’s pretty dark, which I like, but might not be the best place to read. But it’s definitely an adjustment from the daylight outside. Love that they spin chill vinyl, ambient music and jazz. Everyone’s very friendly. Excited to check it out another time as a bar.
Hoping this will be a late night, third-place to read or journal since there’s no place really like that in south Philly. Will report back lol
UPDATE: Have been back several times since at night. It's a great night spot with plenty of seating. For day time, they've made some great improvements for how dark it is by replacing the metal door with a custom glass door. All around, the prices are good, the music is great. It's a little more on the hipster divey side, which I really appreciate. The tomato pie they sell is just okay, but the...
Read moreI came to Solar Myth a few Fridays ago with a colleague to get some work done. The vibe was much warmer than a cold, sterile, dusty office. Actually, the vibe was so warm that it warmed up my fingers and I typed much faster than usual. My colleague and I sat in the back so we could chat without disturbing the other folks who were also there getting work done. We had an incredibly productive co-working meeting and caught up on a lot of important stuff. The service was excellent. I felt welcomed and at home in this space. I'll be returning to Solar Myth next time I need to get work done but don't feel like working in a stale, sterile office. Solar Myth is a great option for when you get bored of WFH. Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery to really get the creative juices flowing. Bring a coworker with you so you can brag about it on your...
Read morePopped in for a midday drink on a Sunday and this place, while super unassuming, is pretty cool. It's an intimate space where some people are doing work on laptops. There is bar seating with couches along the sides. Behind the bar is an impressive collection of records that are in rotating use. The shop area in the front has some vinyls for sale by artists I truly had never heard of and some interesting books matching the vibe.
We were super pleased that they offered a happy hour on a Sunday, with $6 off wine carafes. We got their tap house red wine for ~18 and it was about 4 glasses, which was a great price. Was it the best wine? No, but can't beat the price. And it was worth it for the environment. They offer shows/events so I would consider coming back for...
