Sweet treat hut — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Although this establishment is nice & the owner seems friendly, I’ve also seen him yelling/reprimanding his employees in a derogatory, arrogant way. The white boy, Hispanic girl and pregnant girl were amazing but one day I came in & they seemed angry. They said the owner doesn’t pay them on time, correctly and that they have to hound him every pay day to get their money. This is unprofessional. Also there are times when the store is very busy & the owner only has one worker there all day. These nice employees get so stressed, reasonably so. They’re consistently out of necessary ingredients (strawberries almost every time I’ve been there). It makes me wonder who is doing the purchasing. It doesn’t seemed to be prioritized. The one time the owner made my smoothie, it wasn’t completely filled & it was so thick and icy that I couldn’t get it through the straw. The social media page needs work & I’ve seen the owners personal Instagram where he gloats about his car and alcohol usage. This business is in the wellness space, as they are selling fresh fruit smoothies, wellness shots and acai bowls. It needs a new owner who is actually about that life. I had high hopes for this black owned business but have been let down...

Owner does not pay his employees on time and leaves new employees by themselves at locations where nothing is stocked and there is no cash in the register. He’s overall just a bad person to do business with but the only reason why he can get away with it is because the smoothies are actually good. The only thing he is concerned with are his google reviews, not the well-being of his employees. Writing this review for anyone who is considering working for this man because I know he’s hiring right now. Please save your time and energy...
