I am writing about my experience last year at this bar, in hopes management can ensure guests have a good experience this season and the venture is successful. I am in the business myself--i get it--but my time at Halloween Tinsel was incredibly disappointing. My sis and I built an overnight trip around having a night at this bar, since we live about 45 minutes outside of the city & did not want to drink and drive. Hours posted said they were open until 2 am, and it was a few days before Halloween on a weeknight. Showed up around 11:45 pm and were told they were doing last call. Felt totally unwanted/unwelcomed and like we were interrupting the staff. I do not understand why the hours posted would not be maintained...when I bartend, I like to make money. And hell, I love Halloween...I would LOVE to work at a spooky pop up bar!! Anyways, Two drinks somehow cost 38$..male bartender seemed spaced out and as though he was lying about what I actually owed, as to pocket the excess. Cocktails were nearly undrinkable. Many more people tried to come in the bar after us and entrance was denied. Not sure what the point of a Halloween pop up bar is if the workers do not want to keep it open to at the height of the season. It was raining...left and wandered into a generic pub and got served after doing our best to finish our drinks. Tinsel staff members wandered in shortly to drink themselves after we got situated in the Irish bar. I I have never bothered to write a poor review before, but I would be hesitant to make the trip to Tinsel again after the experience I had last year. Hopefully they have some different staff running the joint this...
Read moreThe concept is cute, but it’s not worth it at all. You could go to a frat party on Halloween to experience the same exact thing. There’s not enough room to move around, so after waiting 30 minutes to get served and spending $20 on a drink you only bought to post on Snapchat, it’s inevitably going to spill all over when someone bumps into you. The entire place is smaller than the inside of a Dunkin’ Donuts. You are going to be shoulder to shoulder with everyone there, and it gets sticky. Literally sticky. Anyway, there’s cute photo opportunities, but unless you have the guards of Buckingham Palace standing in front of you, people will walk in front of you and then you’ll have to yell at them for interrupting your super cute Instagram post. I spent $60 here last year in October and then a month later was charged again, so I would recommend not using your own card to pay. Ask your friend that you don’t really like to put everything on their card and then offer to Venmo them, because this place is...
Read moreWe went to see Tinsel for Christmas (12/21) and we must have beat the rush. You walk up a narrow hallway and have to push past people coming out. When you get inside you’re hip to hip with people until you can find the stairs to go up. Upstairs? Same thing as downstairs but 1000° warmer. Bought 2 drinks (Vodka, Redbull, and Cranberry) expecting them to come in a collectible cup since they were $18….and when we got them they were cheap plastic with a paper label that was melting away as we drank them. Our total was $44 for two drinks. Beyond insane to me. We got our drinks and ended up making our way back out to which the bouncer moved inside so the line of people was now in the narrow hallway to get out. We ended up trashing out drinks anyways because they just tasted like dirty water. It was decorated super festively and looked nice but glad I got to see it once because I don’t think I’ll...
