Visited the bar on Friday with my wife. We don't really know what we expected, but it wasn't what we got.
Seating We booked a table reservation for mid-evening. Late enough to be considered after the dinner rush, early enough to avoid the typical late-night bar rush. When we arrived, we were asked if we'd be okay sitting at the ledge until a table was cleared, as all were occupied. This seemed reasonable, so we obliged. The next table that cleared they sat a walk-in, and the several tables that cleared after that were left vacant. For the hour we spent there, we were never moved.
Atmosphere If you're into the idea of staring into other people's hotel windows, then this is the place for you. Otherwise? I honestly don't know what views and upscale presentations people are talking about. The decor was literally just tea lights strung from the rafters. The only atmosphere we got was the air we were breathing, which that was nice, I guess.
Sunset might be redeeming. But if you're any earlier or later than that, you're really not missing anything.
Service The few times we actually got to speak to staff, they were nice. I say "few" because it took half an hour after we were "seated" before someone came by to grab our order (noting that others had come in after us, been seated, and had drinks already). It was another ten minutes after that before we were informed they were out of food items (which in my opinion is alarming that early in the evening). The drinks were mediocre at best.
Our take? Skip it. If you really want an experience, go to literally any other bar in the downtown area. Cityscape is a 5 minute walk. Liar's Den is right across the street (next to Cornish Pasty) and has a great vibe. Bitter and Twisted will get you much more variety in your drink choices (and better tasting) for the same price. I could go...
Read moreI made reservations at this place for my fiancĂ©âs birthday, when we arrived the view was amazing.. The waitress came to our tables promptly we opened the menu's and I began to Order..I asked for the wings first because they looked tasty on the website. The waitress informed us they didnât have any wings at the moment, it wasnât too disappointing until after I ordered salmon, my next choice of meat. The waitress said we sale salmon but we donât have any right now, I proceeded to read the menu asked about the green tomatoes, the waitress we donât have those either but they were again on the menu. I asked about steak or any meat that we could eat itâs my fiancĂ© birthday the waitress suggested some pasta with some chopped beef sausage. I ordered two of those because I felt pushed to order that by the time they brought the dishes out I was already asking for a manager. I let the manager know it was my fiancĂ©âs birthday and also our first visit there and it was so far beginning to be not so good and I wanted to leave. This manager turned everything around for us. She made a manager decision and suggested ordering something off the downstairs restaurant menu from the hotel and extended her apologies. I forgot her name but she told us that was her first week on the job as a manager of floor 13.. Thank you !!! For this amazing experience here.. the food & drinks were so good my fiancĂ© ordered the steak and I had the salmon. Iâm so glad the manager told the chef downstairs as he tried to refuse cooking for the 13 floor guest, that she know that the downstairs restaurant food isnât for the roof top customers, but weâre all one at the Hilton. We loved how she handled the situation and made sure we were happy, weâll definitely...
Read moreThe special "Miracle" bar was not special or a miracle at all! To start, when you can finally get to the 13th floor, you have to wait in a line that takes 30 minutes before you can order your drinks and food. Then you're waiting another 15 minutes on the single bar tender to make your drink, if you're lucky the bar tender remembers you ordered something. I had to request my drink again and argue with the bar tender I never got one before she would remake one for me. Then she's telling me how she's added extra vodka to make up for having to wait which messes up the drink all together! On top of that, the small drink is beyond over priced, $16, for what you get.
Once your food arrived, it isn't anything fresh. I ordered the Cesar Salad and got what looks like a wilted grocery store bagged salad that was thrown on a plate with a dressing that tastes worse than store brand. This was a very over priced salad as well at $13. Save yourself the time and money and find a better bar and experience! There are plenty around here within walking distance.
To make this experience even worse, when I commented about the salad, I was told, "We don't have a full kitchen here. You should expect the food we serve to be what you would get at a fast food restaurant." This is a bar at a Hilton Garden Inn, typically known for above average food and drinks, not this subpar worse than McDonald's. I'm pretty sure I can get a better Cesar Salad...
