Last week we went to this particular Pita Jungle. We have been to various locations because the food is always good. My experience this time was very bad! While our waitress, Britney, was fantastic- it seemed the kitchen had no regard for what was being comminicated to them... I explained to Britney that I have a bad citrus allergy and asked if the fruit ambrosia had any citrus in it. She explained that it did but that the kitchen cuts it up and places it to order, so the citrus fruits never touch any of the other fruit. This was great, so I ordered. Shortly after I ordered, another gentlemen approached our table and asked if I was able to have pineapple. I explained to him that I have a bad allergy and that pineapple was part of that. A little while later, Britney returned to inform us that the kitchen made the fruit ambrosia with pineapple, so she was having them remake it. (Strange, I know, since someone came out to clarify if I could have this or not, but no big deal because Britney seemed to have remedied the situation..). Our food arrives (without the cheese part of the ambrosia. Again, no big deal, I just informed them that it never came out and Britney quickly brought it for me...) as I'm eating my fruit, I begin to feel my mouth swell, so I start picking about the fruit plate, and sure enough, THERE'S PINEAPPLE ON THE PLATE!!!!!!! The food was taken off our bill, but the damage was already done. Now, a week later, and I'm still dealing the repercussions.. I cannot believe that an allergy was not taken more seriously.. while I genuinely feel like our waitress took this seriously, and was very accommodating, the kitchen...
Read moreIt was not crowded on the night wet went on the dining room; however the reception area was immediately inside the door and we were packed elbow to elbow. A group of 6, another group of 4, my wife and I, and immediately followed by another couple, them a couple with a small child. My initial reaction was to immediately go elsewhere, but since it was a special night and place for us, I waited it out. The lone host finally appeared after a moment, grabbed a few menus, and said, "I'll be right back," and then moved to seat the party of 6. He came back after a minute, grabbed more menus without saying a word, then headed back (apparently didn't count right the first time). Other staff saw the trouble he was having but either didn't care or weren't allowed to help him and proceeded snot their duties in a lackadaisical way. The poor host finally got back was able to get our seating preference and that of those who came after and finally got us all seated after another few minutes. Service from this point was fair but not exceptional, the food was good except they forgot the dressing for my wife's entree (which is supposed to be tossed with the pasta and is rather bland without it) and we had to ask for some to be brought to her. We frequently dine at other Pita Jungle locations nearby, so we know this is not the norm. It was disappointing, and while not awful didn't merit more than the three star rating this visit. Probably will go back to other...
Read moreWe’ve been to this Pita Jungle a few times and it seems like it gets better with age – regardless of which location, although this one is our fave! Thank you, Mr. Osmani, Mr. Khodr, and Ms. Kohsok the founders of Pita Jungle, for developing this fantastic concept which brings Arizonans an Eastern Mediterranean flair, tasty, nutritious and healthy eats, in a comfortable environment with great service. From Pitas, Wraps and Bowls to Shawarma, Gyros and Pita to creamy flavorful Hummus, Falafels, to Pesto Lavash, incredible Kaftah Beef, Black Beans to Portobello Mushroom Burgers and Garlic Mushrooms; Garlic & Herb Mashed Potatoes, Tabouleh; and much, much more traditional as well as innovative. Our most recent visit included an amazing rendition (as usual) Jungles take on the traditional Gyro: broiled beef and lamb, one of the best tzatzikis in the Valley, with seasonal mixed greens, tomatoes, red onions, grilled pickles (a first for me, but terrific), with Greek pita although I decided to get it as a bowl with an incredible and perfectly prepared turmeric brown rice, along with some cabbage-kale super greens, in garlic, lemon juice, sumac… mouthwatering and delish. I also for the first time tried an incredible Garlic and seasoned mushrooms which is to die for. I have a new fave side dish. If you love mushrooms, this is must have! You make good food for you, also good food to eat! Great job Guys, see...
