I love the vibe of this place! It seemed very authentic and like everyone working up front and in the kitchen is passionate about serving delicious food and sharing a part of their culture.
We were greeted with such friendly staff at the register that checked back in while we were eating, which I was really impressed by.
We went for lunch and ordered out of the lunch special menu. We got the quesabirria meal and the 4 street tacos. The servings are on the smaller side for the price, but they are packed with flavor! Not many food pictures attached because I got too excited to dig in when our food came out!
I loved the quesobirria tacos, they were so delicious! The asada taco was so yummy as was the pastor. I was most excited about the jackfruit street taco. It is the vegan substitute for the pastor taco, and it was AWESOME. So sweet and flavorful, I loved it and I’m not always one for vegan substitutes.
The desserts were good but not great. We tried the original tres leches and the Oreo cake. We wanted to chocoflan, but it didn’t look very good in person so we decided against.
I would go back here again for sure. I want to try the flautas, they...
Read moreThe owners of El Zaguan treat me like family every single time I walk through the door. It's not just a friendly greeting; it's a genuine warmth that makes you feel so welcome. They remember my usual order, ask about my day, and just make an effort to connect in a way you rarely see anymore. I've even had the pleasure to meet their kids and parents. This isn't just a taco spot, This is my second home.
And that amazing vibe extends to every single person working there. The staff is consistently fantastic—they're attentive, kind, and always seem to be in a great mood. It’s clear the owners treat their team well, and it shows in the top-notch service. They're quick, professional, and genuinely happy to help.

Read moreEl Zaguan is a small, quaint shop in downtown Phoenix. I was warmly welcomed with humor and grace. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were an amazing combination of crunchy tortilla chips, crema, cotija cheese, and hot sauce (choose red or green, but red is better in this dish). Following the recommendation, I added an extra egg, and glad I did so the chips had more to soak up. The Mexican coffee was an amazing blend of coffee and spices, and though I don't usually want sugar in my coffee it comes with it unless you tell them ahead, and I was pleased with the sugar and milk to fit the vibe. I had some work to do, and they were happy to give me space to spread out, checking on me occasionally. Hoping I have time while visiting Phoenix the next few days to go again in a heartbeat and sample more from the menu. Thanks for your service and the amazing...
