If I could give zero stars, I would. My recent experience at The Pho was nothing short of frustrating, confusing, and disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the service I received was staggeringly poor.
I arrived at the same time as another couple, who were greeted right away while I was left standing there, barely acknowledged. Once I was finally seated next to them, they quickly got their drinks, placed their order, and even had their drinks served — all while I sat waiting, unnoticed and unserved.
Eventually, the sole waitress, a short Asian woman, came over, asked for my drink, and then promptly disappeared, attending to every other table in the restaurant. She even closed out two other checks before I finally received a simple glass of water. When she finally took my food order, the couple seated beside me had already received their meal, while I continued to wait… and wait.
Sitting there with an empty glass and an empty table, I found myself out of patience and still starving. The whole experience left me feeling not just disappointed but, frankly, disrespected. I can’t help but wonder if my service was subpar because of my ethnicity — I’m Latino. It’s hard to imagine any other reason for such glaringly inconsistent treatment.
In the end, I left The Pho, both hungry and angry. Save yourself the frustration — go somewhere that values...
Read moreFirst impression: it’s clean when you first walk in, but almost too clean. nothing on the walls which made it feel sterile. hostess was prompt and responsive. there was a bit of an odd odor, I really couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I’ve been eating pho for 20 years so I know what pho smells like.
Spring Rolls: the shrimp spring rolls were brought out within 30 seconds of ordering, so they were premade. they didn’t taste soggy, however. they were crisp and nice. the peanut sauce was mixed with some sort of red sauce that was at the bottom of the dish. not sure what it was, maybe sriracha? But it was unnecessary.
Brisket Pho: the soup was brought out within 2 min of ordering. instead of giving you the sauce bottles they give you a small portion of sriracha and hoisin in a fancy little dish. I needed more but didn’t wanna ask. soup was bland. i got a very small handful of sprouts and 3 leaves of herbs. substantially less than most pho restaurants.
Price: shrimp spring rolls, small bowl of soup, and ice water, I spent over $20 with tip for lunch.
Recommendation: sadly, I’m gonna have to say pass. I’ve been looking forward to a closer pho location to the office, but sadly it was a disappointment. Soup was bland, portions were small, and it cost over $20 without a drink. Sorry :( pho king Orem will continue to earn...
Read moreBland and flavorless. I got the chicken pho. For reference, I absolutely love pho. This dish consisted of a watery broth, plain noodles, and unseasoned chicken. The chicken was literally just a boiled chicken breast that had been shredded. And the broth was absolutely flavorless and tasted more like water than anything else. There were some garnishes on top and bean sprouts on the side. This didn’t satisfy my pho craving at all since it was more like drinking hot water with a side of plain noodles. I had to add a lot of sauces to make it taste like anything. Disappointing. Truffle fries were OK but nothing to write home about. I got thai tea and it was lacking flavor as it was more just sweet than flavorful. Service: Fine. Would’ve liked to have plates to go with the appetizers so I didn’t have to put my food on a napkin. Atmosphere is very warehouse. You’ll probably be leaning up against a wall or in a metal chair. It’s also very loud inside since it’s practically an unfinished room. The benefit of this place is that it’s reasonably priced. But even their low prices can’t compensate having pho that tastes close to...
