My boyfriend & I came to eat here on 4/27/21, we’ve been coming to this location for years. We never have a bad experience, it’s run pretty well despite all of the changes covid has brought the service industry. This day, however, we received pretty bad service. Our server, Magan, was polite & seemed pretty new to serving (I was a waitress for 3 years at a busy sports bar). She brought us our drinks and waited in the back for our food (chicken strips & coney dogs with fries). Our food probably took 30+ minutes to come out, which is obviously a long time for our type of order. We’ve never waited that long for our food here before. No one came up to our table to inform us of what was going on with our food. Magan finally brought out my chicken strips & said she’d be back with the rest. She then came back & took my chicken strips, which I’d already touched, out of my hands & gave me another order while stating it was the wrong order of chicken strips (I ordered 4 & she originally gave me 6) & served them to the correct table & then walked away. She came back with the rest of our food & I asked if she knew why our food took 30+ minutes to get, & mentioned she had just taken chicken strips out of my hand after I already touched them & served them somewhere else. She said she didn’t know why the food took so long, & not much else. She asked if we needed anything else, I asked for salt & napkins. She was clearly nervous about the situation, I get it, but we were unhappy with the service. Another waitress (no name tag, she was shorter, blonde, hair down & seemed pretty young- maybe 18ish) ended up bringing our salt & napkins & asked if we needed anything else, I said more ketchup please. This waitress paused & pointed & asked, “more than ketchup than that?” I repeated yes & that I use a lot of ketchup & that I was sorry for the trouble. No one came back to check on us, and the same waitress (blonde one, not Magan) came back with the check. We said thank you, this waitress replied with an attitude, “yeah, it’s nice to be nice sometimes ya know?” She was talking directly to me at this point. Completely surprised & unhappy with the service overall, after we paid I went up to this waitress & pulled her aside. I said that her giving a customer an attitude can mess up her friend’s tip next time, so she should watch what she says to customers. She then replied that she said that because I was, “mean to Magan.” I told her I was unhappy with my service, so I let Magan know. She replied, “Then go somewhere else! Don’t ever talk to her again like that, I don’t know who you think you are. That’s embarrassing, especially in front of your boyfriend.” I just didn’t reply at that point. She walked back to Magan & said something to her, I asked Magan if I could speak to her, with the intention to clear things up for her. Instead, Magan walked right past me, ignoring me. I left at that point, I didn’t see a manager I could speak to. As a server, I know that if I ever told a customer to, “go somewhere else,” I’d probably be fired. I’m not trying to suggest she be fired, I’m just trying to create awareness of the situation... it’s completely unacceptable to say something like that to a customer, especially a customer who’s tipping you. I did file this complaint privately to the customer service email, I’ve gotten no reply since that day-...
Read moreI love this Leo’s for the food and food only! Their whole check-out process and the people they hire to run the cash register needs help to say the least. They won’t let waitresses handle transactions and if they did this whole mess could have been avoided! Instead I had to wait 20 minutes for the long line ahead of me to check out. Finally down to one person, I get up and stand behind him. (I just had back surgery and standing for more than 5 minutes is extremely painful). They check out the person ahead of me but instead of taking 2 minutes to cash me the rude person at the cash register turns her back to get trained on something completely unrelated. I said you still have a customer waiting and the lady training her trainee got rude and asked me to wait. YOU AREN’T PAYING ME TO STAND HERE AND WAIT when it’s your job to check out a customer and her training could have waited 2 minutes instead of asking the customer to wait. I told her I wanted to leave as I wasn’t feeling the best due to pain and she told me I should be patient when I had already waited 20 minutes. When I gave her the ultimatum to stop arguing with me and take my money or I was leaving regardless is when I think the manager or owner came running up to save the day. His cashier wanted to ruin my day because she wanted to be in control, but thankfully he knew how to do her job!! She is lucky he came to check us out because if she had kept arguing with me, the police would have been called. Their large Greek salad and patty melts are on point! Waitresses are usually friendly but As much as I love the large Greek salads here, as long as that lady is your cashier, I won’t be back. Customer service is her job, and clearly she has no clue what customer service means, and it doesn’t mean turning your back on a customer who has already been waiting and telling them to wait longer. If you don’t like customers find a...
Read moreI recently moved and decided to try this place out. Service was good, but I was very unimpressed with the food and the breakfast specials are more expensive than other coneys I'm used to (they do often have coupons, but usually for a larger amount of food). It was crowded and a baby was crying, but that is no fault of Leo's–that's just Sunday morning at a restaurant. They have plastic cups instead of glass, but it doesn't add an odd taste or smell to the water like some places, which was good.
I had gotten a country breakfast skillet and had pulled a few pieces of what I thought was charred bits left on the grill that got mixed up with my food, no big deal. But then as I was finding more of them, I realized those were the sausage pieces. They were cut up to be about the size of bacon bits and burnt far beyond anything I would want to eat. I am sure they would have made another one if I asked, but I had already eaten a good portion before realizing and it was during Sunday morning rush, so I just picked around them. The other ingredients were pretty standard to what I would expect from a coney–not amazing, but straightforward.
Overall, I'm a bit undecided on the visit. When I saw that skillet on the menu, I was excited because it was exactly what I wanted, but the sausage was such a letdown it kind of killed the whole plate. I'd like to think maybe I got the last of what was in the pan of sausage pieces so, while I would rather drive a couple more miles to go to my regular coney, it wouldn't prevent me from eating there again. If I do, I will update the review to reflect all experiences.
Update: I picked up the same skillet as a carry-out order. Service was fast and friendly. The sausages were cut up like you'd get in an omelette so that was much better. But the gravy was missing so there was still much...
