Updated review:
Third time is usually the charm. Not going back. Food's good but the customer service is extremely poor. A greeting is a nice perk when you enter an establishment you're going to give money to. An apology is a plus when the order has to be changed and the wait time is extended through no fault of the customer. It's unacceptable when an employee gives an order over with no eye contact or "thank you" or "thanks so much for waiting" and starts to walk away before the order hits the counter. Never again.
We had heard that ordering online and picking up was the smart thing to do with this new business. We ordered at 7:15pm and the app told us the order would be ready in 15 minutes. We arrived at this ridiculous parking lot at 7:30, parked in Starbucks' "pick up order" slot and went in to grab out food. Finally received our order at 7:47pm. We were not greeted upon entering the store, nor asked later what we were there for. We did get to watch at least one of our sandwiches sit and wait for 15 minutes while the rest of the order was heaven knows where. While 2 of us enjoyed our sandwiches the 3rd sandwich (#43)was a soggy and dry mess with no chipotle mayo to be seen (I suspect this is the one that sat around waiting for the rest of the order. I'll stick with the other sandwich shops in Pocatello and wish you all good luck in getting organized and improving food quality.
A Year Later: This is an update to my previous review that I made right after they opened. Decided to try again--and the sandwich was good, although the bread was a little overdone/hard. The wait time is still a mess. Ordered on the app again. Drove 15 minutes to pickup 3 sandwiches and once at the store waited another 20-25 minutes for those 3 sandwiches to be made. Read moreHaving lived in Salt Lake for years, we used to frequent Jersey Mike's, so it was a pleasant surprise when this location opened up in Pocatello recently. In general, Jersey Mike's is a good sandwich option, with the stand outs being their hot subs like their philly's. The food is always quite good, and I can't deny that.
However, a few things we've noticed from multiple visits to this location, as recently as our visit yesterday: I'm not sure I've ever been here and seen one single clean table, and these are during slow times, not big rushes. Tables are always filthy and unkempt. It also seems like I get a weird side eye when I don't leave a tip here... this is counter-service fast food. Sorry, I'm not leaving a tip just because you rang me up and handed me a sandwich. I hate so much that tipping is even an option on their register system; it's a ridiculous default that should be disabled.
They used to have a fridge at this location with some great drinks, which was one reason we'd go here, but that has since been removed. They do have a couple unique fountain drink options, but I much preferred their previous drink fridge selection.
The biggest downside for me, though, is the price. We just paid around $30 for two sandwiches, a couple bags of chips, and one fountain drink. I could go to a sit-down restaurant for that kind of money. While the food is good, it's not worth the price to me anymore. Read moreWe have always loved Jersey mikes and this location! Unfortunately on Nov. 14th I placed an online order at 11 am for pickup at 1230. When I arrived at 1230 our order was not ready. They were busy so I understood it might be a few minutes. After half an hour of waiting I still had not received my food. I asked the gal running the register if I could just get a refund. I had places to be and couldn't wait any longer for our sandwiches. She asked what my name was and assured me she would refund it once they were slower. No big deal. Unfortunately I still have yet to recieved my refund, despite reaching out to Eric the owner for a refund. I've worked in the food industry for 16 years and understand being short staffed and busy.
