Jake's Crab House — Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach

My family and I (husband and two daughters age 9 and 13) ate here yesterday while on our trip to the beach. The atmosphere was very nice. Clean and nestled among the boardwalk with views of the ocean. It wasn't very busy. Maybe half the tables occupied... After browsing the menu we settled on Crab bisque for my youngest, new England clam chowder for myself, chicken and waffles for my teen, and my husband got crab fries and crab bisque. We placed our order with a nice girl and she then brought us corn bread with marmalade. And that was undoubtedly the best part of the whole meal... our food came out and the crab bisque was extremely watery and a over abundance of Sherry. Each bowl contained 1 single piece of crabmeat. About the size of my pinky nail. Both of them pushed it to the side. My chowder was also very watery, and consisted of very large chunks of potatoes with a few pieces of clam. My daughters chicken and waffles was ok. But it's hard to mess up chicken fingers and a single waffle. My husbands crab fries were crinkle cut with orange cheese sauce. Sprinkled with old bay and a dusting of crab meat. Our waitress did not check on us after our meal was delivered and instead just dropped off the check and said "whenever your ready." Overall we left extremely disappointed for a spending that much money. We come to Pt. Pleasant a few times in summer and unfortunately we will not be trying...

If I could give this place negative stars I would.. the little girls that are playing the hostess roles are incompetent. I had a party if 4, on a busy day, I gave them my name and i saw them write it down, not 2 minutes later I went back in to say I'll be waiting right outside the door and I witnessed them erase all the names on the list. At that moment I didnt think anything of it bc the girl reassured me that she got it.. so about 30 minute later after watching multiple parties go inside without coming back out I decide to check. 1) the little girls proceed to tell me the wait will be long. 2) after saying I gave them my name and that i watched them erase all the names 1 little girl proceeds to tell me she went outside to call my name and when I confronted her saying I was literally standing outside the door and that was impossible she starts stuttering bc she was caught in a straight up lie. Long story short, they are unprofessional and the hostesses lie and have no clue what they are doing. We stopped in for a late night bite to eat. The waitress was great and we enjoyed the chowder, clams and shrimp salad as well as all the beautiful wooden beams on the open ceiling. The reason I only gave 3 stars was due to the fact that two employees started moving all the tables and chairs on half of the restaurant so they could sweep under the tables. They didnt just move one table at a time but dragged all the tables and chairs to one end then did the sweeping then dragged them all back. The place didnt close for another 45 minutes and two other groups of people walked in and almost walked out bc it looked like they were closed. All the tables and chairs were jumbled up right next to the entrance doors. Our table was alongside the area they were cleaning and the guy sweeping was literally 2 feet from our table and it was very annoying while you're trying to enjoy your dinner.
