Okay, so let me start by confessing I don't take the prospect of reviewing anything lightly. It's a drag. I usually don't have much to contribute that hasn't been said &/or the experience is often not sufficient to elicit either a negative or positive review. I think Portland's food consultancies are to blame. They demand so much upfront cost for their work and for aesthetics that entrepreneurs are left with no wiggle room to experiment on their actual creations and need to charge a premium for basics
That said, I don't even care if I'm repeating what others have said about Delicious Donuts. Their Donuts are, indubitability, DELICIOUS, dude... Dig? But they do so much more than donuts.
My advice? Start with the standard fritter, which, for $2.50 serves 2, comfortably. Now, if you're eating your feelings like I am, these days, you can certainly eat one on your own but if you make a habit of that you'll need to budget in the cost of a new wardrobe. Honestly. They're huge!
The fritter is a perfect combination of soft & crispy knots of cinnamon & sugar colored dough with a misleadingly dark exterior. Don't be fooled. What's happened is the exterior has been carmalized to perfection. This accounts for the crispy bits once they cool - it's basically candied. If you show up early enough it radiates with heat and the experience is equally good.
What's more? They have full on, more rounded breakfast menu items such as sandwiches, burritos and omelets. The Aiden breakfast sandwich is a mere 4 bucks. It's a bacon/sausage, egg & cheese on an English muffin or donut (if you're savage) The burrito is a cool $6.25... and unlike so many other places, they use hash browns - not potato chunks. So much better!
They also have an 8 item vegan menu with half those items being $4 or less!
I guess what blows this place off the charts, for me, so much as to compel me to write a review are a few aspects:
Their space is humble, tiny, easy to overlook. Not quite a hole in the wall but it feels like a secret. Like they could be right under your nose but you might not even realize it. They're sandwiched between a Plaid Pantry & O'Reilly Auto Parts in a space that I'm pretty sure was a Dominos Pizza.
The makeup of the staff. It's refreshing. I don't mean to make anything racial. I just like seeing a diverse staff. In my experience, a petite male and female of Asian decent and a strapping guy of African decent run the show. The fellas seem to work the tiny kitchen. The lady runs the counter. I...
Read moreIf you're a donut lover, The Delicious Donuts is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked donuts envelops you, and your taste buds begin to tingle with anticipation. Each donut here is a delightful work of art, and the flavors are simply out of this world.
Let’s start with the large maple bar. This masterpiece is perfectly fluffy, with a rich, sweet maple glaze that is not overly sticky, making it a fantastic treat for breakfast or a midday snack. The size is generous, and each bite just melts in your mouth.
Next up, the chocolate frosted donut is a classic that never disappoints. The chocolate glaze is thick and luscious, providing the perfect contrast to the soft, airy donut beneath. It’s a chocolate lover’s dream come true!
The plain glazed donut is a staple, and The Donut Haven nails it. It's light, airy, and the glaze is just sweet enough to make it irresistible. Sometimes, simple is best, and this donut proves that point perfectly.
For those who enjoy a little fun, the chocolate donut with sprinkles is a colorful delight. The sprinkles add a playful touch, and the chocolate flavor is rich and satisfying. It’s a treat that brings back childhood memories with every bite.
The old-fashioned donut is a true testament to traditional donut-making. With its slightly crunchy exterior and tender, cake-like interior, this donut is a nostalgic favorite. It’s perfect with a cup of coffee!
Don’t skip the caramel frosted donut; it’s a unique twist that I absolutely adored! The caramel glaze is decadent and adds a wonderful depth of flavor that pairs beautifully with the donut's sweetness.
Then there’s the apple fritter, which is like biting into a warm apple pie. Loaded with chunks of real apples and a hint of cinnamon, this fritter is a seasonal favorite that transcends the typical donut experience. It's a delightful treat that feels both comforting and indulgent.
Last but certainly not least, the donut topped with Oreo pieces is a dream for cookie lovers. The combination of creamy frosting and crunchy Oreo bits makes for a delightful texture and flavor explosion. It’s the kind of donut that leaves you wanting more!
Overall, Delicious Donuts delivers an exceptional donut experience. The variety, freshness, and quality of each donut are unparalleled. Whether you're stopping by for a casual grab-and-go or indulging in a leisurely treat, this place is sure to satisfy your cravings. I can’t...

Visited Portland a lot over the years and wanted to try here because it comes highly recommend, but no good food will ever outdo how rude and insanely disrespectful the lady working the register is.
7am stop. Walk in and attempt to have some friendly banter about the morning hours, to which she says "If I was anymore tired than I was, I wouldn't even talk to you guys"...ok, weird comment to make to guests, but whatever, not that big of a deal.
Ordering food was a wild ride. Girlfriend asks for the largest cup of coffee, and immediately the woman starts getting flustered "Ok idk what that means, do you want a gallon? Or do you want it in a cup?"...We literally said a cup.
People start to come in. We order a breakfast sandwich and a donut. "Are you guys gonna order separate or together?" Tell me girlfriend I will, woman spazzes again "Hey, listen, I prefer to do the order all at once and move this whole thing along"...ok, that's LITERALLY what were trying to do, and if it wasn't an option to split, why ask?
While she is still taking our order, she is immediately turning to ignore us at this point, and focus on making orders for the people behind us. Overall friendly to everyone behind us, still being rude as all hell to us.
"What donut did you want and coffee with cream?"... Huh? She gets mad again "I'm asking what kind of donut you want?"... Already said Boston creme.
Continues to give us a cold shoulder and focus on the guests behind us. She turns and looks around and goes "do you want room for cream in the coffee?" We already answered this 3 mins ago. Girlfriend doesn't realize she is talking to her because she has been blowing us off in favor of people she knows, so gf asks, she replied "Yes you, you ordered coffees with cream right?" ...rudeness still continues because of her own rushing around and focusing on 5 guests at once.
Wait 10 mins. Serves 3 people who were behind us first, observe her being so overly nice to everyone else. Food comes out, she refuses to give us the food, makes the back of house lady do it, says nothing to us or won't look at us again, but says bye and TY to everyone else.
Not sure why we deserved such foul and disrespectful treatment when we came in being super friendly and just ordered 2 sandwiches, 2 coffees and a donut, but I guess the woman doesn't like tourists or something?
All I know is this woman is an extremely angry person to act this way, so tourists and...
