I’ve been coming to Gyro Place for the last 7 years and I always make an effort to stop by for a double chicken gyro whenever I’m in the city. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and there is nothing better than getting to the saucy bottom of the pita for a legendary last bite. I was blown away by the lamb kofta on my last visit so I might have to change my usual order! What truly sets this place apart from the other neighboring food carts though is the owner Mohammed. Despite me not living in Portland and only visiting a few times a year he always remembers me and makes an effort to catch up while he’s slathering my gyro in extra spicy sauce. He’s incredibly hard working and has been through multiple relocations downtown and I’ve searched him out each time because of the relationship we’ve formed and his commitment to his craft. I can always count on Gyro Place for an inexpensive meal downtown that punches way above its price point in quality and taste, and it’s even better knowing that I’ll get to share a conversation with a great member of the food cart community. It’s the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before or after a Timbers game. Don’t...

However there is a skiny old guy with glasses who takes FOREVER. Waited over an hour(hour and twenty minutes to be precise,) for 2 lamb salads, 2 lamb over rice, and 1 chicken shawarmah. Another lady ordered a lamb gyro and he had her upgrade to a double meat lamb gyro even though she didnt want to. Instead of cooking the food, he kept coming to the window making jokes which people did not think were funny at all and some left to get food elsewhere. At one point he came out and smoked a cigarrett instead of making the food and wanted to talk and hangout. So if you see the old skinny man with glasses AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The other workers are...

After sitting in the back ignoring me for a couple minutes on his phone, I order the two $5 Gyros and the operator straight up tells me "we're out of that, we only have the Double Gyro for $3 more".
Dawg, the only difference is the amount of meat you put in. If you don't want to sell an item, or your loss-leader just isn't working, take it off the menu, don't lie to my face.
Tried another menu item, was left unimpressed, the spicy sauce tasted like something off an old taco truck, the food wasn't awful, but there's better Gyro and food from other pods on the same block, and definitely several better Gyro joints within a 10 minute walk. Keep walking just a bit and you'll find better...
