I was visiting from out of town with some friends, and we spotted this bar near the convention center. Looked like a lot of fun, with a giant chalkboard wall, basketball games, and ski-ball. We tried to come in several nights in a row, but it had awkward hours and closed before all of the other bars in town. Finally, we made it a point to drink here on our last night in Portland. One of the Skiball machines only gave seven balls instead of 9, and the other didn't work at all. No out-of-order sign or anything, we lost some quarters in there. We then moved on to the basketball machines, but out of four machines, only one of them had a functioning display, so this made it hard to compete with each other. We decided to forget the games and just get some alcohol to soothe our disheartened spirits. The price on a pitcher seemed acceptable, so we ordered a pitcher of some IPA, but were then informed that it "didn't work." We then asked for a pitcher of ANY IPA, and the girl made a face and said none of them worked. We were then asked to leave the establishment since they were closing for a private party at like 8:30pm on a good drinking night. We left the bar confused, noting that none of the other patrons were preparing to leave and the bar appeared to be remaining open. We then crossed the bridge and had an awesome evening at another place, met some cuties but my buddy wouldn't talk to...
Read moreSo I popped in for a quick drink about 45 minutes before clothes at the end of the Dallas cowboys Giants game. I was with one of my clients and we enjoyed a drink after arriving to Portland from the long travels from Texas. It's pretty easy to find as our convention was at the Oregon convention center down the street. Within walking digits, about 7 minutes from our hotel at the Hyatt regency across from the Oregon convention center. Definitely better food than some of the food that I ate over the course of my trip which I will talk about later on in other reviews. Since I was with my client I forgot to take pictures because it wasn't the time, place or manner but I wanted to share none the less. We had their queso dip which was spicy and though I did give it four stars, that's only because they use the traditional cheese box queso when in Texas we have more of a queso Blanco style that's hard to beat. The TV In the bar was over 160 in. With standing table type seating facing the large screen. You could definitely watch the cowboys lose from anywhere in the bar. Parking is paid to park so be careful what time it is and the bar does close pretty early for a traditional bar. It closed at 10 the night we arrived. (Thursday) Tons of...
Read moreBeing from out of town we looked up soccer-friendly pubs in Portland to watch our 8:30am Premier League Match. Seeing that this establishment was near our hotel, open at 9am, and listed on the soccer-friendly pubs, we were excited to enjoy breakfast and our match there. We arrived promptly at 9am, only to be ignored by the only employee in the bar after he unlocked the doors. We proceeded to the bar and sat, waiting for the gentleman to come over. When he did we asked if he would be able to change the channel to NBC Sports for our game that was on (all tvs were on NFL talk shows). He said he couldn't change the channel on any tv because he had to have all tvs on NFL. We were the only patrons in the entire establishment with NFL games not kicking off for at least an hour. The employee was rude and dismissive. Obviously, we did not stay. This is NOT a soccer-friendly pub and should be removed from...
