Unfortunately a first and last time coming here. We were a party of about 8 celebrating a birthday and for parties of 6 or more they state it’s an automatic 22% gratuity, that’s fine. Whats not fine is the fact that it seems to be an excuse to give absolutely terrible service. Our server (never got a name) was inattentive, short responses and very much did not care to be working. A beer and wine pour taking 20-30 minutes, no communication that food cook times would be different so not everyone would get their food at the same time, and we were just completely ignored. I had to raise my hand to get our servers attention who was just staring at us from the bar rail after taking every tables order that came after us, first. After speaking to the manager privately he didn’t show that he cared about our experience, didn’t go to the table as a whole and apologize for the experience, and didn’t offer so much as a free dessert for our birthday celebrant who I feel terrible for. Food is ok here but the focaccia served with the spin dip cut up the roof of my mouth, pork tasted weird, we had a wagyu burger that gave Burger King vibes, and the truffle parm fries are just sub par regular fries served with a watery truffle aoili- probably just served in a ramekin with leftover water in it or something. All in all won’t be returning and I hope that they put some focus on customer care and satisfaction. Any acknowledgment from the server or manager that they were aware and sorry for the situation would have salvaged a lot and the fact we never got that said all we...
Read moreStopped in around sunset one night while staying at Hotel Eastlund. First off, the view is pretty nice, despite the new high rise apartment building across the street partially blocking the view of the sunset and west hills of Portland. The space itself is very nice and modern. It was a Saturday night and a little busy, so the service was somewhat slow, but not unacceptable. And we weren't in a hurry. This place offers a solid list of craft beers on draft, as well as a good cocktail menu. The gimlet I had was spot-on. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. We split a deviled egg appetizer and a pizza. The eggs were fine, but I've made better at home. The real travesty (and the reason for the 3 star rating) was the "wood fired" pizza. Absolute trash. Insulting, even. The crust was not crispy and did not appear to have ever been in a wood fired oven. The dough was soft, chewy (in a bad way), and apparently undercooked. The cheese was what I would describe as slimy. The only quasi-redeeming quality was the toppings (pepperoni and sausage), which we picked off and ate by themselves. I would recommend literally any other pizza place (even a national chain) in Portland before sending someone here. I hate Papa John's with a passion, and I'd eat there before I ate this pizza again. Overall, I'm giving this three stars because it's a nice place to get a drink, particularly on a summer day or evening, but I can't in good conscious recommend eating here. At least not the pizza. Maybe some of their other food...
Read moreTerrible Sunday Brunch Experience. A Sunday brunch is meant to be a delightful experience, especially when it's a rare opportunity to catch up with loved ones. It's unfortunate that the service and food did not meet our expectations. The table section we were seated, we got the worst waiter I've ever experienced here. Our order was placed immediately, but took a long time to receive. I got the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast with gravy on the side. It came out burnt and very dry. Our waiter told me if the meat was soaked in the gravy it wouldn't be dry. The way I head it was...If you gave me beef jerky and soak it in gravy it will turn out like a filet mignon. I didn't want to come down on him, as he look so frustrated and stressed. He leaned over to me with my husband and my son at the table hearing this, "I have 6 other tables to attend to, I don't have time to hear your issues with your order, I will get my manager to handle you." He was very rude saying it. Manager stopped by and took my order off the bill. He was not kind about it nor did he care or have any concern on the appearance and the freshness of my meal. We expect courteous service and quality food, and it's a reasonable decision to choose to spend my hard-earned money where it's appreciated. What happen to you guys. In the past I'd recommend my friends and family to come here. Not anymore. It used to be a great place...
