I so badly want to like this place, the vibe inside is super charming and everyone who works there seems cheery and kind.
But everything about it is inconsistent. I’ve had multiple items that are unbaked in the middle, or very dense, or noticeably burnt. This morning their special huckleberry scone had areas inside with unmixed raw flour and the entire thing tasted like raw flour out of the bag and was underbaked. Other days the scones are to die for!
The drinks can be amazing, or undrinkable. I’ve had such a good tea latte there on occasion, that it’s kept me going back. But also been served one that had a thick slurry of chai spice mixed in that made it very grainy and undrinkable. I’ve also been given great tea lattes, or tea lattes that haven’t been steeped at all and just taste like milk and syrup.
Sometimes it’s really good, which is why I keep going back, but at six dollars a drink or six dollars a baked good it needs to be really good every time. Will update this review if it gets better, I don’t wanna give up...
Read moreI really wanted to like Two Fat Cats Bakery. After hearing so many glowing recommendations from friends, I was excited to finally stop by during a recent trip into Portland. Unfortunately, my experience couldn’t have been more disappointing.
The first red flag was the coffee—easily some of the worst I’ve ever tasted. It was bitter, burnt, and completely undrinkable. We only started to drink once back in the car and woof, it was bad.
As if that wasn’t enough, the service was surprisingly rude. I understand places can get busy, but the attitude from the person behind the counter was dismissive and unwelcoming, which made an already underwhelming visit even worse, and it wasn’t even busy! It’s one thing to have a bad cup of coffee, but being treated poorly on top of that really soured the experience. I’m shocked by how different my experience was compared to the praise I’d heard. There are too many great spots in Portland to spend time and money somewhere that leaves you feeling unwelcome...
Read moreTalk about fantastic customer service, this place tops any place I’ve been to in Portland, or anywhere for that matter. I placed a phone order for a pie earlier in the week. When I arrived to pick it up there was no record of my order. After double checking their records and not finding my order, they quickly called their other location to see if it was there. It wasn’t, but the other location would “be happy to bake me a pie and have it ready in an hour!” To top that off, the manager would drive it to my house due to the inconvenience they had caused me. Ultimately, the most delicious pie was HAND delivered to me within two hours which was in plenty of time for the birthday party I was hosting! They were most apologetic, but obviously it was just a simple human error which could have made by anyone. I highly endorse Two Fat Cats for all your...
