I generally do not like to write bad reviews because I always think that there's a chance for Redemption. However I have been there twice now and had the same reaction both times. This review is Frank's Mexican restaurant on Goodwin Street. A lot of us remember it was Maya on Montezuma, it had a fire so they moved. Perhaps they were too used to having a very small restaurant and now in a very large restaurant. Six of us went to lunch there today at 11:30 at about 1205 we had to start waving our arms asking for water or chips. Then we asked if we could order he took our orders we finally got our food at 12:40. However they brought one Plate at a Time so three of us were about a quarter of the way through our meal when two more Got Served and then the last lady got served as we were finishing. The food was mediocre at best not one of the six of us enjoyed our meal. Yes I will say they were very busy but they are so understaffed and they bring one Plate at a Time so the service is incredibly slow we didn't get out of there till 1:05. I'm sorry to say I sincerely doubt if any of the six of us will go back. It's a shame we were excited to have Mexican food in the...
Read moreHave eaten here many times. Last 3 times... were disapointing. We all got our plates at different times. Looked like it had been sitting out for awhile.. Sauces were "dried on top".. mole and shrimp enchiladas. Many minutes between delivery..Why? The food was lukewarm. Friend was served his Chile Verde... but.. had to wait some time for the tortilla's. They didn't offer extra chips to go with the guacamole. Unable to get server's attention to get more...After getting go boxes... my husband declined to take his home... shrimp enchiladas... tough shrimp...we looked at our dirty plates for the remainder of our time there. This happened the last time as well. I did work in the restaurant biz for a few decades... Learn how to read the tickets and synchronize the orders so all your guests are served at thie same time....Can't imagine how they deal with a large table!! There is a saying "empty handed is empty headed". When you see a dirty plate and you are walking by the table. clear it. We don't plan on spending our sheckles here again. First world problems.. but... we don't have a lot of $$$$...
Read moreFirst time at Frank's. Was excited to try it based on what other people had said being all good feedback. Unfortunately, so disappointed. Went on Saturday evening, only 3 tables of customers so not busy. They had no background music playing so it was all kitchen noise....not pleasant. The service was terrible, server never checked on us once, we had to flag another girl down while she was sweeping the floors to get refills. The other disappointing part was the food. I had heard great things about the food however, our food was quite bland and the smallest portions. Rice was dry and hard, the enchilada sauce tasted like straight out of a can. I'm so bummed, really wanted to like this place but it was such a bad experience. I can look past mediocre food with good service. Service says a lot about an establishment.....this one...
