Today, I finally decided to try Irregardlessbiscuit. We waited about 10 minutes in line outside, and inside, it was packed with people. The menu offers a variety of interesting biscuit combinations. I opted for three different biscuit sandwiches and a coffee.
I gotta tell ya, the experience was good, but it fell slightly short of my expectations. The biscuits were fluffy with a good crunch but lacked flavor—I'd rate them a 7.5 out of 10. My favorite was Howard's Biscuit, featuring extra thick maple and pepper-glazed bacon, egg, and cheese. It was tasty, though the egg was way too small. This sandwich was a 7.7 out of 10.
The Fried Chicken & Hot Honey biscuit was okay. The hot honey had a mild kick, and the chicken was similar to a home style chicken, but the sandwich needed more bolder flavors, maybe some cheese. I got tired of it halfway through—6 out of 10. The Country Ham, Cheddar & Jezebel sauce biscuit was sadly disappointing. The Jezebel sauce was overpowering with horseradish, and the ham was pretty dry. I'd rate it 4 out of 10.
My mom had the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, which she found sadly underwhelming due to the small egg and bacon that wasn't that fresh. However, she enjoyed the hibiscus tea, and I liked my NOLA cold brew coffee with chicory syrup and milk. We also tried a chocolate toffee cookie and a hash brown which were good.
The staff was very friendly, but the space was cramped. After spending $65, I felt the place was a tad overhyped. Some might really enjoy it, but I wouldn't necessarily rush back, especially if there's a chance you could be waiting a long time.
After coming from South Carolina recently and trying a place called Vicious Biscuit, which was absolutely delicious, this biscuit spot in our state just didn’t hit the way I expected.
I do recommend giving them a try if you're in the area, and I do see the potential of them becoming more popular around the state! FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM...
Read moreWent with some friends on a Sunday morning. Very small space inside with a handful of tables so we got take out. We arrived at 9:30 AM and the long line was already out the door. It took an hour and a half from making the line to getting our food and by the time it was 11 AM the owner came out to announce that they sold out of biscuits so the remaining people in line had to leave. I got the hot honey fried chicken biscuit and the chicken sausage + egg + cheese biscuit. The chicken breast was cooked well: juicy, tender, and well seasoned but eating it with both biscuits made it overall dry to eat. Also, the hot honey was not spicy enough for my taste. The moisture of the honey + the moisture of the chicken were not enough to combat the dryness of the biscuits. I think eating this with only 1 biscuit or perhaps adding more of the chicken's frying oil to the biscuits would've helped. The sausage + egg + cheese did not suffer from dryness issues. The fat content of the sausage + the oil from the fried egg helped moisten the biscuits and made it more enjoyable to eat than the other one. The sausage itself tasted great and if I come back, I'll order this one instead. In my opinion, both biscuit sandwiches were fine; nothing spectacular. The staff and owner seemed very nice and it looked like they were trying their best despite being swamped by customers. I don't think it's worth waiting 1.5 hours for these biscuits so, given all the hype, I don't see myself returning...
