The Capital Grille in Providence, Rhode Island, is part of a well-known American chain of upscale steakhouses. It opened its doors in 1990 at 1 Union Station, housed in a historic train station building. The Providence location is notable for being the original Capital Grille, established by Edward P. Grace III, who envisioned a high-end dining experience with an emphasis on dry-aged steaks and an extensive wine list. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its quality food, elegant atmosphere, and exceptional service, leading to its expansion into a national brand. Today, The Capital Grille maintains its reputation for fine dining and is a staple in Providence's culinary scene.
This evening, I had the pleasure of dining with my buddy Eric at Capital Grille. I met Eric at a store where I provided training. Tonight’s experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
Upon being seated, we were presented with a delightful assortment of breads. Capital Grille's bread selection is truly exceptional, and it required considerable self-control to resist devouring the entire basket. The anticipation of the subsequent courses was the only deterrent.
I commenced my meal with their renowned lobster bisque, enriched with tender lobster meat. This dish set a superb tone for the evening.
For the main course, I indulged in a bone-in filet, perfectly cooked to 148°F. This was accompanied by indulgent au gratin potatoes and a standout creamed corn, highly recommended by our knowledgeable server, Erich.
To conclude the meal, I savored a decadent chocolate mousse garnished with fresh raspberries, paired with my signature cappuccino.
Capital Grille is an essential dining destination. The atmosphere, the exquisite cuisine, and the impeccable service combine to create an unparalleled dining experience. Thank you Bobby, and...
Read moreIf you have toddlers-just know you will not feel welcomed in this restaurant. My family and I had the worst experience celebrating my father's birthday. We are frequent clients, we go to this restaurant at least 2 times a month or more for business and for pleasure... we know some of the employees who attend to us when we are there. At the time of this visit, we brought 3 toddlers who just started walking recently, one of them being my son. At one point two of them ran towards the entrance of the restaurant and as I was chasing him to hold him - the "manager - Bobby" very rudely yelled to me and the other child's mother "what do you think this place is?!! This is a restaurant! They cant be running around! Get your kids out of the way!" And just walked away before we could even respond. If you are a mother, you know you'r always chasing after a toddler because they cant sit still. And no, we were not going to leave our kids home because we are celebrating their grandfather's birthday and they are his total joy. We were a party of 12 people, we were very close to cancelling our order and leave - we stayed because we didn't want to ruin his birthday even though the mood was ruined to the max after such experience. We have been to MANY MANY restaurants and we chose Capital for this celebration...we had NEVER had anyone yelled at us because of our children. It was disgraceful, humiliating, and even felt discriminated with the disgust and rudeness he approached us. He walked by our table multiple times after the incident and did not apologize at all for the way he addressed us. There are ways to say certain things and I believe this Bobby should be retrained on proper customer service skills or find another job. I am disgusted and...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and great service. The waitress seemed genuine and was very helpful while giving information on the meals. Our first round of drinks were an old fashioned and a dirty martini with blow cheese stuffed olives, then we got an "in fashioned" and a berry champagne drink, all the drinks were fantastic and generous concerning liquor but not overpowering. For appetizers we started out with the tuna tartar which was good but not wow worthy, and we also got oysters. My only gripe with the oysters was that they were overpriced and had broken shells in them. I feel if you're going to pay over $3 per oyster then I shouldn't have to spit out shells. The main courses that we choose were dry aged NY strip and the dry aged peppered strip with courvoisier cream. They were both flavorful but were slightly overcooked. The dessert was fantastic! I got the brulee styled cheesecake. All in all I will definitely be going back to drive deeper in the menu you should know that this place is not cheap but you do get what your pay for! The bill came up to $259 got two people. Oh! There's parking in the same building as the restaurant and they validate as well.
7/9/23 We've back for restaurant week and had another great meal! I had the pre fix: salad wedge with Bleu cheese and bacon chunks, bone in steak, and for dessert the creme brulee cheesecake for $49 beware they upcharged me $10 for getting the steak (which wasn't stated in the menu) with parmesan truffle fries as the side; I also got a perfectly made Manhattan. My date opted for lump crab as an appetizer and a burger as her meal with the truffle fries as her side. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was...
