Newbury Comics — Local services in Providence

NOTE Newbury Comics Company = 4 STARS This particular store/staff DEFINITELY = 5 STARS!!!

While I didn't end up buying anything, it wasn't because of the staff. They seemed more than happy to answer my questions & assist with whatever I needed, even though I ended up not purchasing anything this visit. The store also seemed well stocked, neat & CLEAN. These are all huge points with me. I've worked retail in different venues for MANY years, so I know how things should be run & what good customer service should look like. Any major deficits in these areas will, more likely than not, make me turn around & march right back out. Probably never to return.

My ONLY issue, and this would be with the actual company of Newbury Comics, not the individual store, is that some of the pricing, (Regarding books, on this particular visit.), seem to me to be quite high. The store definitely had what I was looking for, however I was not willing to pay those prices, and believe me, I am NOT a cheapskate. (As my bank account & credit cards can attest. Lol) One of the books I was looking for there was $36.00 which I later found for $17.99 brand new on ebay! If not for that, definitely 5 Stars would...

3 stars just for being a comic book store. Attempted to visit, but the horrendous parking situation in Providence was a nightmare. I'm not from around here but this city may take the cake for worst parking scenario in the United States. I googled all the parking I could find but at 11am on a Wednesday it was hopeless. Parking permits required, no places anywhere close and definitely no parking for anything other than a compact car. No parking signs EVERYWHERE. Traffic photo enforcement EVERYWHERE in this police state/city. Saw the cameras flashing at drivers in intersections that pulled too far forward at the light, hammering them. After blowing off my lunch break and looking for an hour and only finding government worker parking I got the heck out of Downtown as fast as I could... without speeding of course! Also beware the ruthless drivers who all seemed to have the government parking sticker have no mercy on the streets. I've visited every comic book store in a 30+ mile radius south of Providence... but looks like I won't be able to check this one out it's not worth the risk. The other Newbury facility in Warwick was nice, I had high Hope's for this one....

I honestly don’t get what they don’t understand here! For you who don’t know, apparently it was only for me final sale, I was accused of stealing, And they were profiling me. The manager even admitted it, and she works more than one at Newberry comics. I reported her to The boss of Newberry comics. And the fact that I’m still a minor and she saying that I’m stealing out of the K-pop album is stupid. I collect the stuff and I’ve even seen itzy And bought tickets to see stray kids. And then I brought my dad in the store cause I was told I can’t return stuff but other people can Which is messed up. And my dad had a word with her and was saying stuff, and she admitted that she took advantage of me so thanks Mrs Clark! And yeah, I actually buy from the store Every single week and they tell me that it’s final sale for me and They are taking advantage of A 13 year year-old girls hard earned money. And I was told I could never buy the album Because apparently I return it too much! Half the time when I return it, she tell me there’s nothing missing. Oh then I didn’t Steal anything She’s a dope.
