I will preface this review by saying that establishments usually get a 3, 4 or 5 star from me because I know how hard people work to make their business successful and I know how Google reviews influence a business, however our visit to Skyline would have been a 1 if it wasn't for a manager and staff who were trying to make our experience better. EVERY SINGLE step of the night went poorly. We came here only because they had a Groupon offer.
The moment we pulled up in our vehicle 2 young valet guys were helping other customers. I saw a sign that said "valet" with an arrow pointing to the other side of the road. I pulled up and asked the valet if he needed me turned around, he said yes, even though I later found out the garage they parked it in was the other direction. I turned around and waited at the sign. The guys looked over at me a number of times and never came over. I got frustrated and went to park out front along the curb and then they finally came over.
We visited on a Friday evening and the restaurant was empty. The hostess was friendly and sat us outside, the table was right under the kitchen window and was very loud obviously. A friendly waitressed asked us if we wanted to move and moved us to a very nice table. The view was very nice. However we then sat there for 30 minutes before someone came up to us. Normally I would just say something but the waitstaff and bus folks were looking at us as if there was no problem. Finally a waitress came up to us and said that she supposed she was our waitress. She was very nice and shortly after a manager came to us and told us he was sorry the waitress we were supposed to have had an emergency and that he would like to offer us a free drink or dessert. This was a nice gesture and earned them a star. This would end up being silly
We ordered an app that ended up just being a fried seafood platter. It was partially our mistake but it read "fried calamari, shrimp, scallops." It was slightly deceiving. This took quite a long time to come out and the shrimp tasted very much like plastic. $18
We ordered entrees that were very good albeit very expensive for what they were. $18 for pasta with vodka sauce and no meat and $26 for bake stuffed shrimp with vegetable and potato. I believe they gave 5 shrimp and they were the size of regular cocktail shrimp.
The view was nice and the outdoor seating was nice however, and I know this is a little outside of the restaurants control, people from the inside kept coming out to talk on the phone right next to our table. It also looked as if they were doing venue showings as we are sitting there eating as well.
We went to order our desert which again was a nice gesture. Of 5 deserts, they were out of 3 of them, on a Friday night. We ordered our 4th choice to go. This was pretty bad.
I went to pay and I told our waitress that I had a groupon. She marked it as redeemed on my phone and said she would apply it and she took my card. She came back and applied the whole total to my card, she did not redeem the groupon. The total came to almost $70 for 2 entrees and 1 app.
The valet had an app that allowed you to request your car and I did this as we were paying the bill. As we made our way back up to the valet station we were laughing at how poorly the night went, we haven't really ever had an experience like this before and we are not the type to get mad. When we got to the valet station the 2 valets were talking to a friend in a car that was pulled over with their back turned towards us. We waited for at least 5 full minutes before they noticed we were standing there. They then checked their phone and realized we sent the request 15 minutes ago. I don't mind if you talk to your friend but you can at least keep an eye on the app. They then ran to get the car and one from another party. As they were running to get the car one of them threw my keys to the other and my $400 key fob slammed against the ground.
As someone else said skip the strange Miami vibe, choose restaurant or venue and smooth things out, this place...
Read moreI attended the NYE event a few days ago and everything was great until about 1230AM. First of all, the party was supposed to go until 2AM, but something caused the fire alarms to go off and everyone was told to evacuate the building. At this point it was a mad rush with everyone trying to get their jackets from coat check and it apparently became too much for the workers to deal with. Coat racks were rolled into the middle of the dance floor and it was an absolute free for all. As could be expected, many coats were taken quickly and I was left without my $300 down jacket. As the coat check girls tried to “search” for my coat which had clearly already left the building, they repeatedly tried to hand me a coat which matched the description of my coat, but was clearly not as it was not my chapstick, nor my gloves in the pocket of the jacket they were handing me. As flustered as they were, they were very relieved when they learned it was just my coat that was missing, rather than something that could actually prevent frostbite in the -2 degree weather, like my phone (which they were very worried about for absolutely no reason). Thankfully enough, the Director of Sales, Scott Connery was able to diffuse the situation by explaining how “I can’t make your coat reappear tonight” and pointing out that I could simply borrow my friends suit jacket to keep me warm on the ride home. How could I have been so silly and forgotten that borrowing a suit coat would make up for my winter coat (which I’ll still need the rest of this winter) going missing. Maybe I should ask my friend if I can borrow his jacket for all of January. Luckily enough I was able to get Scott Connery’s card so I could send plenty of emails and phone calls that will never...
Read moreDelbert and I are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Mr. Scott Connery at Skyline at waterplace. Scott and his team were extremely professional and provided quality customer service. They went above and beyond. It's because of Scott and his team my wedding was like a fairytale. We received wonderful feedback from family and friends on how lovely, professional, and beautiful our wedding was. Most importantly, Scott and Skyline made us feel apart of their family, and made sure we were taken care of. When I say I walked into the venue for the first time and the place was demolished it was ( they were revenovating ) im a visual person and he gave the vision of my dream wedding and succeeded above and beyond my expectations. I was their first wedding which i didn’t find out until 2 months before the wedding but I’m so happy i was, they prove whether I was first or last it was catered to you. Russell Morin is the venue caterer, which omg the food was amazing. Highly recommend the venue and caterer. My only regret is my Florist which absolutely has NOTHING to do with Scott or Skyline, Milestone took my centerpieces and reuse them like all of them. I should have listen to Scott on his recommendation on vendors it was my fault. They are AMAZING, you won’t regret it. We have already recommended Skyline to our friends and family. There so much more I want to write but please go on their Facebook page and look at the pictures and my review AMAZING. I promise your day will be...
