This one's interesting. In general I'm a fan of Sodalicious. Their original location in the tiny barbershop off of 300 W and University is a fun spot to grab a quick pick-me-up of sugar, while tasting better than just a dollar soda from McDonald's. The tongue-in-cheek Provo college humor is a fun quirk with drink names such as "Your Mom," "Second Wife," etc. It was only a drive-thru, so you get what you expect: a quick, pretty good, pretty cheap comfort food (or drink in this case).
The new location seems confused in branding. There's no parking (unless you're very lucky or a resident of The Village), so you have to walk in. The area is spacious and gorgeous, with a glass fireplace in the center, elegant walls and decorations, much more of a hipster vibe. The new menus are written on chalkboards hanging from the ceiling, as you would expect from a more hipster restaurant. Having strained my neck looking so high, I noticed that there were other menus, printed on office paper and wrinkled from water damage (another disconnect in presentation). Yet the product is the same. Name-brand sodas mixed with sugar syrups, served in a Styrofoam cup with a sticker on it, with the same tongue-in cheek college-humor names. On top of that, they've taken to calling it mixology.
Mixology is a term used to classify the art of mixing drinks in the cocktail revolution, a renaissance of using fresh juices or handcrafted ingredients in making cocktails; a craft. While technically, yes, mixing flavors of drink is mixology, that term I've felt has been reserved, most bars don't even use it unless it's a cocktail bar. It's like heading into Burger King and asking who the Master Chef and Sous Chef are. Their use of mixology cheapens the term.
The product is still delicious, and still at a great price, but Sodalicious should embrace what it is: cheap, tasty soda flavors, and keep its...
Read moreFirst off, this location is in a terrible spot! Causes there to be back ups of traffic which is just dangerous. Second, my husband and I received free drink and cookie coupons from friends of our for Christmas. Each time we have gone to use these cards we have been charged different amounts! The first time was completely free, as the coupons say. The second time we went, it was $0.01. Fine. Third time we were charged $0.05. This last time we went we were charged $0.16. Now, I don’t mind paying a couple cents for items that would be a few dollars but the inconsistency of each time is ridiculous! Obviously, these cashiers are not being trained properly on how to ring up these coupons. When we inquired as to why we were being charged it was because “The coupon” (which is for a FREE 32oz drink with up to 2 add-ins) “only covers $2.32 and the drink costs $2.34. And the frosting on the cookie costs extra”. We ordered just a plain sugar cookie which does not have an add on cost for frosting. No where on these coupons does it say “tax not included” or that it doesn’t cover extra cost of frosting. The managers and owner need to make sure they are properly training...
Read moreListen yall I come here about 2-3 times a week, get the same 4 drinks so I know the flavors and I always order a drink with energy drinks in it. Tonight 3/14/23 at around 10pm I got the love shack and I am pretty sure they were out of monster ultra, instead of telling me the girl decided to make a mock drink. How do I know that? It straight up tasted like 7up with coconut syrup, news flash I am ALLERGIC to coconut syrup especially the torani brand that they use. Luckily I only took a couple of sips and immediately took allergy meds I carry with me. I went to the springville location and they were very sweet and understanding that they remade my drinks correctly. I guess now I have to start verifying if they have ingredients and not substitute without my knowledge. Usually this location is good on letting me know if they dont have certain ingredients and I just get a different drink, Granted it's not the same girl I always see for the closing shift but come on girl DO BETTER I could've ended...
