To start, let me tell you, I have gone here probably 10-12 times so far, and the food is consistently the best I've had by far.

I've ordered almost every sandwich, and they're incredible. I don't know what the man and his shop does to their sandwiches, but they're incredible every single time. Nothing looks put together in a hurry, regardless of how many people he has in the shop. I've been there and I'm the only one, and I've been there and there are 10-15 people. It varies, and I've always been treated with a smile and as fast as possible. The sides! Two sides with every sandwich purchase! Wow! And they're not afraid to lay it on the plate. You will be full walking out of that restaurant. If you haven't gone here yet, do it. I promise there is no better shop for sandwiches out there in Raleigh or the surrounding area, and I always try sandwiches wherever I go.

Also, he makes lattes, and they're absolutely fantastic as well. A small is about 16oz, and It's incredibly flavourful and the milk is steamed perfectly every time!

One more thing... the shop has an incredible vibe! You will walk in and see vintage art and toys. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well, and he does to-go orders as ...

Jerome and Luciano came to my rescue as I was in dire need of finding a small, cozy venue for a baby shower. We planned on about 20+ people and wanted a stress free option so we could enjoy our guests, many who were out of towners and not have to worry about clean up, set up, food, drinks, etc. Normally Sosta Cafe isn't open on the weekends, but when approached about the idea, Jerome and Luciano were open to helping us out. They worked with us to plan food, date/time, expectations, etc and maintained consistent contact to ensure everything fell into place as planned. They were so friendly, great to work with, efficient and we couldn't ask for a better venue. The food was amazing, and everyone raved about the 3-bean fair trade coffee...most had 2-3 cups it was so good! It's a bummer the cafe isn't open on the weekends because I would definitely spend time there sipping a chai and reading a good book with a tastey Riviera sandwich. I highly recommend checking out Sosta, even if going for lunch or if you have an...

Our first time here. It was as good as I had heard. Servings are huge: my husband and I split our meal (Poulet with chickpeas and canellini beans salads). My nephew ate half of his meal and took the other half home for dinner. Everything was just right: the bread, the fillings, the spices -- and you could taste the freshness. The beans and chickpeas were obviously cooked in-house, not canned. Although it seems like a no-frills place (from the whiteboard sign outside the shop to the decor and setup inside) attention has been paid to the right things. There is no waiter service - you order at the counter and the owner brings your order to the table. There were perhaps 6 tables inside plus a sofa and seat in a corner where a couple was playing chess while they ate. There are also a few small tables outside. The plates and glasses were simple but solid, as was the napkin-wrapped silverware. Just a really nice, relaxed and relaxing vibe. I see us...

This place is a sacred vestige of what I want in a cafe: flavorful and healthy food options, great coffee, unique music and a really cozy atmosphere (plus friendly staff! Owner Jerome is so kind and welcoming). I lived next to Sosta when it first opened in 2006 and would go very often. Fast forward 18 years: I live a little east of downtown and rarely eat downtown anymore. But today I was in dire need of quality sustenance and a quiet place to work (after losing every ounce of my energy chaperoning a field trip at Marbles Kids Museum nearby 🤪). I was beyond delighted to see that Sosta was still in business! Walking in was like time had stood still since their early days, in the most comforting way. The vegan sides were exactly how I remembered them and just what my body needed. I loved my vegan BBQ sandwich, the ultimate comfort food. I visited at the end of their day so it wasn’t too busy, and the service was also crazy fast. You won’t regret stopping by!

SOSTA is an oasis of calm, peace, delicious food, and genuine community in the midst of downtown Raleigh. The food is excellent for take-out, or to bask in the atmosphere and take a break to enjoy the superbly crafted coffee, sandwiches, salads, and sides. Jerome, Raleigh's favorite French, now American, citizen pours his heart into making SOSTA the sort of place where you long to be a regular. Treat yourself to a place where the experience is just as important as the magnificent food, and support a gem of an independent cafe that has endured a terrible year.
