As someone who loves sours, the lack of breweries up in the Sac area that carry them is really disappointing. When I finally do find a place that carries it, it's always trapped out! When I finally ventured into Burning Barrel, this brewery is filled with them. From fruity sours to smoothie and everything in-between. Don't worry it wasn't all sours, they also had some IPAs, Stouts, a wheat ale , lager and porters. From the moment I walked in we were greeted by two friendly girls. They let us sample and answered any questions that we had. I ended up getting the Double Double Jam Jam which was a smoothie sour and consisted of Boysenberry, passion fruit, blood orange, lychee and coconut. Some smoothie sours can be really thick but this one was light and so delicious that I ended up getting a couple of rounds. There was no shortage of seating as there was plenty of seating inside of out. They don't have any food here but they do have chips and salsa for sale. Check there website or social media for food trucks dates and if all else fails there's a Taco Bell in the same parking lot. If you're a beer lover or just want a place to hangout and relax, then I definitely recommend visiting...
Read moreWe will not be returning after a bad experience with one of the bartenders. I was there with my family, including my young son who is very clearly autistic. He was sitting on the floor looking out the window directly adjacent to the table we were sitting at and he was making stimming noises. A bartender came over and referred to my son as “that” and said he needed to stop making noise. I informed him that he was autistic and that I would try to quiet him but it is difficult since those noises are a form of communication for him. The bartender doubled down and let us know of the policy that all children must be seated in a chair at all times. That’s fine, but I saw multiple children running around and even lying on the floor at one point and I did not see the bartender telling them to stop. The situation could have been handled with kindness and empathy but instead it was addressed rudely. We felt discriminated against and promptly left. We will not be returning. If your child is also neurodivergent, I suggest choosing a different brewery. I have been to many other breweries and restaurants with my son and we have never once been...
Read more*Edit to respond to owner: This was Saturday (9-11) around maybe 2-4 pm. Thank you very much for being attentive to this!
Look- this is my favorite local brewery, they have amazing and unique beers and a good set-up.
Unfortunately I find a few of the male beertenders to be pretty non-personable and non-customer service oriented (which is unfortunately not uncommon at local breweries, so this is not to say it's an exclusive problem for Burning Barrel). Particularly the younger gentleman with the mustache and beard- he rubbed all 4 people in my party the wrong way when serving them. He was generally stand-offish, and somewhat rude & stingy about sampling and didn't even let me know when my transaction was finished- just walked off without a thank you or anything. The female beertenders I've dealt with have been totally professional. Some of the male beertenders might need too be reminded that they are in a customer-service oriented, and public facing position. Of course I'll be back, it's truly a phenomenal brewery, but the service my party received last time didn't sit...
