I have been a regular customer for Mayuri for past 5 years and had mixed experiences all along but what happened yesterday is making me give a 1 star
In general I am not a big fan of Indian sweets available at Mayuri owing to it's quality and freshness but still used to buy some of the sweets regularly, as there is not many alternatives available in puget sound area.
Yesterday my plan was to pick a pound of Jalebi but there was none available and then I saw they have Amarathi available. I was pleasantly surprised and got a little over pound of it. When the guy handed me over the packed Amarathi, the color and texture doesn't look good to me. So instead of carrying directly to home, I thought to have a little taste of it. To my horror, they were completely stale and doesn't seem fit for human consumption.
I came back in queue and asked them to return it, the guy took it and asked if I have tasted it (when I said they are stale and told them that I bought them just 2 minutes back). He said since you have tasted it, we can't take it back and put it back. I again told, they are stale and not fit for human consumption and they should not put them back but rather throw away the full stock of Amarathi.
On this they said for me to not say such things and said maybe I don't like the taste but they are good and they have been selling for years. I said they would have been good when fresh but now they are stale and not fit for human consumption.
He stopped talking to me and keep repeating that I should not say things like that instead checking on the stock for himself.
At the end of it they refunded me but those stale Amarathi are still there and up for sale
Mayuri doesn't seem to bother much about public health or their own reputation in terms of kind of stuff they want to put up and sell. I understand items may not sell with in few days after being prepared and hence may loose on aroma and taste but here the case looked like is about weeks and that stuff is totally stale and not fit for consumption. My mouth taste remained bad for hours with just a tiny bite of it.
I never expected for someone to put up stale food item for sale and not act at all even after direct customer complaints

Read morePlease do not go with the "Mayuri" brand only, it also depends on the location. The Redmond Town Center location is the worst I have ever seen. We used to shop at Mayuri Redmond Overlake center for groceries, restaurants, etc. The "Chicken Dum Biryani" is the best in Washington, in the center of Mayuri Redmond Overlake center. Today, I ordered "Chicken Dum Biryani" from the Mayri Redmond Town Center. It was the worst biryani I had ever in Washington. Basically, what they did is they did not prepare so-called dum biryani; they mixed the rice, masala and chicken curry and then fried/mixed them together. I could not even do it, I have trashed everything. How it is different than that of Overlake center:
I promised not to take any food from Town...

After Friday prayer at the mosque, my husband and I decided to visit Mayuri Foods, a delightful supermarket and restaurant. We had heard great things about their Vijayawada Chicken Biryani, and let me tell you, it exceeded all our expectations!
The aroma of the biryani filled the air. The chicken was tender and succulent, perfectly cooked with aromatic spices that blended flawlessly with the biryani rice. Each bite was a burst of flavors that left us craving for more. The quantity was generous, and despite our best efforts, we could only finish a third of the portion. The leftovers were a delightful surprise for our dinner later.
While my biryani experience was exceptional, my husband opted for the Goat Thali. Unfortunately, the thali did not live up to our expectations. The two pooris and rice were satisfactory, but the selection of veggies was average. However, the major disappointment came from the goat curry. The meat was not as tender as we had hoped, which affected the overall eating experience for my husband.
Despite this minor setback, we were impressed with the ambiance and service at Mayuri Foods. The staff members were attentive and friendly, ensuring we had a comfortable dining experience.
Considering the delicious Vijayawada Chicken Biryani, the quantity provided, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, I would rate Mayuri Foods with 3.5 stars. I highly recommend trying their biryani, as it is undoubtedly one of the best in the area. However, it's worth exploring other menu options or seeking recommendations for a more satisfying experience with their...
