Back Porch Café — Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach

If I could write a better review, I would! The Back Porch is an excellent restaurant from the food, to the ambiance, to the staff. We had Ijohn as our server and she was attentive, knowledgeable, witty, and friendly! We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees and one dessert to celebrate a Birthday.

First, I will discuss one of the signature cocktails called the Lemon Basil Martini. We were a group of five and three of us ordered that drink. It was likely the best drink several of us had ever tasted.

For appetizers, we ordered a variety of salads, the sweetbread, and the crab ravioli. Every single dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. I could have eaten the golden beet salad as a meal. Several others in our group loved the sweetbread but you must be adventurous to try that!

For Entrees, we ordered the rabbit and scallops (separate dishes). The proteins were each incredibly fresh, tender and plated to perfection.

We did have a reservation and the restaurant was busy, however, service was still efficient. Our group has been visiting The Back Porch for several decades and we always look forward to our next visit. This is an expensive establishment but you will not be...

I dined with a friend in Oct. 2021 & we were both pleased with our brunch & bloody mary. I was recently visiting Rehoboth Beach & my niece & nephew & I had brunch at The Back Porch. The waiter suggested scones & they were moist & delicious, like scones you would enjoy in The United Kingdom. My niece ordered Eggs Benedict & was very pleased with her choice & said her entree was delicious. My nephew & I ordered the seasoned scrambled eggs, the artisanal sausage & leitke. The eggs were not very good the way they were seasoned. And the artisanal sausage was awful. I had ordered scrambled eggs last October, seasoned with salt & pepper & with bacon or regular sausage and this brunch selection was much better & far more palatable. Needless to say, my nephew & I were not happy with our brunch selection, which unless it’s changed, I will never order again. The menu needs to have plain eggs & bacon or sausage for those who are not into artisanal sausage & eggs not seasoned well. We didn’t make a reservation since season is over now and at this time of the year not too much population at the shore anyway. When we go in, even though it was a dinner time , at 6 o’clock Literally the place was empty. Before Host greets us he gave us an attitude , looking from top the toe and asked us if we have an appointment. We said no and he pretended looking at reservation list and looked us from top to toe one more time and said unfortunately there is no availability even though there were only few people inside , like 6-7 people. I never felt like been treated like this in my life before. I think they don’t like the out siders and only serving local community. They don’t treat you like patronage instead treating you like they have created the whole world. Just put yourself in my shoes and think for a second what can make me sit down and write all my feelings and experiences if that was only a reservation issue.
