Authentic Indian food, actually ANY Indian food, has been lacking for a long time in Sussex County. So you can imagine I was thrilled to learn that Mr. Kumar and family were bringing my beloved India Restaurant from Annapolis where I lived for more than a dozen years, to the Delaware shore. My first dinner, only 3 weeks after opening, did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated by Mr. Kumar in the lovely white tablecloth dining room. I particularly liked the dazzling light sconces on the walls over the booths. After the de rigueur poppadoms and chutneys to whet our palette, we ordered samosas (two for $7), lamb vindaloo ($22), chicken jalfrazie ($20), and an order of garlic naan ($4). Tea and mango lassi were cooling with the spicy vindaloo. We ended our delicious meal with kheer (comforting and cardamom-scented rice pudding for $6) and warm gulab jamun ($6). We saw beautiful steaming, piled-high platters of Biryani go by, so we'll have to try that next time. Coincidentally, we had Punjabi house guests for the weekend, who could not join us for dinner. So they went themselves earlier in the day and came back more than satisfied, and comforted by their delight in having their native cuisine while visiting Rehoboth for the first time. They liked Indigo so much in fact, they went back their second night here in town to have dinner again! They recommended the chana masala (chick peas), aloo gobi masala (potatoes & cauliflower), and the daal Tarka (black lentils). Be sure to have a reservation, or get there early, as Indigo seems to have a full house every night. We arrived at 9 p.m. for our reservation but a line at the entrance and a steady stream of customers were seated til well after 10pm. It was hard not to notice that two-thirds of the restaurant at that point were Indian customers which, of course, says a lot about the authenticity and popularity of this place. So glad that Indigo is here in Rehoboth. Now all we need is good and authentic Thai food... ;)

If you like Indian food definitely give this place a try!! My husband and I always struggle with ordering Indian food because I love it spicy and he likes it very mild. Some restaurants don’t know how to make food mild enough. Indigo understand that you can always add heat but can’t take away. We ordered the vegetarian sampler- Samosas were not spicy at all and out of this world. The insides were so flavorful and the crust was flaky and fresh! The veggie pakoras (fritters) were tasty and cooked to perfection! For our meal we ordered shrimp masala and saag paneer. The saag paneer was good but the shrimp Marsala was out of this world delicious!! This is now our favorite Indian restaurant (food and service) and we will definitely be back whenever we visit Rehoboth again!! Tip: If you think Indian food is “too spicy” give this place a try. They will make it mild for those who don’t like the heat!!

We had a wonderful dining experience at Indigo. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, and they thoughtfully found us a table that was convenient for us and our son. We skipped appetizers and went straight to the mains—Saag Paneer, Dal Tadka, and Shahi Chicken Korma. The complimentary papad and chutneys were a nice touch to start the meal. The Dal Tadka and Saag Paneer were both delicious, with the dal paired with rice being especially comforting and satisfying. We also ordered Garlic Naan and Tandoori Roti, which complemented the dishes perfectly. The Chicken Korma was tender and flavorful, though it reminded us more of butter chicken than a traditional coconut-based korma. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the warm hospitality. Looking forward to dining here again! IG: journey_man16

i can write an essay regarding the poor service, poor food quality and overall poor performance of the staff. However, i will simply highlight the worst things. cutlery, not washed properly. pushy staff kept offering us alcoholic drinks. when we denied the wine and beer menu, we were told to be religious and do bhajans. our host didnt even bother asking us if we wanted any food to be spicy at all. there was no ice in the water poured in our dirty cups. served appetizers with no sauces. entree usually at any indian cuisine, serves 2, here it wasnt even enough for 1. ps. the cost of 1 entree dish $20. every single entree had added amount of sugar which made it sweet. (indian food is known to be spicy, not sweet) none of the food actually seemed to have any spice. naan bread was uncooked to the point you could actually taste the flour. all the food seemed to have warmed in microwave, because the containers were hot, but not the food itself. we tried a lot to get the waiting staff's attention to get us more water, but they were too busy to even acknowledge us.

being a restaurant owner, i also understand mistakes happen during busy times, but not this many.

the thing that provoked me the most, to write this review is the host's comment about being religious, when we denied the wine and beer menu.

ill leave this review at this point, im sure all you readers get the point. i will never go back to...

We visited for dinner at this place.food was kind of ok. Our experience was horrible with staff. They offered foam plates for kids for hot food!!!when asked to replace they were not haapy and impacted our further order..We did not order lot of food being the first time visitors and wanted to see the quatity. So after this plates thig which we think was not much they litterally pushed us back saying order will take lot ofctime to serve..at least another 20 to 30 minutes to addup..I meat this is at dinnertime with atleast 50% tables full and long weekend time when they expected atlest a little more orderes than any other day.... And to be honest we were not in hurry so pushing us back for almost not taking order was disappointed all of us..kids were hungry too...atleast tgey took order for kids dring and the person taking oreder was different so i guess he took our order and served kids well..so 2 stars for him for atleast making kids full...
