Honestly, I debated leaving a review. But the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I work in the service industry and am well aware of the understaffing, longer than usual wait times and issues going on all over. But this went beyond that. Blonde haired lady was our server, she was training today. Her poor trainee was just walking around like a lost child, while the server just did her own thing. It took literally fifteen minutes before someone even acknowledged our existence. Even if they were super busy (which they were absolutely not when we dined in) a quick table touch to let your table know you see them and will be over makes quite the difference. I truly felt discriminated against, I'm not sure if its because we rolled out of bed and grabbed breakfast as is, or that we had my nephew who is not white with us.. I hate to even say that, but it was 100% the vibe that we got. Our table was completely neglected the entire time until it was time to drop the check, then the lady shows up (then never even came back to run the card). Nobody ever even asked if the food was okay. If we needed anything, did we need refills. I waved the trainee down to get salsa for my extremely bland breakfast burrito, which I see in other pictures it should have came with but did not. Also, to run the card so we could pay.. Because we waited another ten minutes after the check was dropped to see someone to cash us out. Honestly the food had no flavor, and the server was horrible. I really feel bad for her trainee who was just lurking around like he was lost. As someone who trains people fairly frequently, I would suggest you guys putting him with someone else. Not worth the time or the money. Just a bad experience overall. When I googled this place I had such high hopes. Possibly the worst service I have ever recieved. Thankfully she had a trainee or else no one would have actually waited on us, so it seemed.
EDIT: Its called communication with your table, excuses are absolutely unnecessary. I would never ask for a manager because the server was struggling 😂 & Judging off of your reply, you would have been just as useless as our server!! I have worked 7 days a week, two jobs for 15+ years. I don't doubt that She is an incredible Woman outside of this experience. I understand the struggle and that sometimes you are just exhausted and out of it. But you have to leave that at the door when you get to work. How else do you expect to make money? From pity tips? I didn't see a single person smiling, anywhere.. In the entire restaurant.. From the staff to the guests. There was MAYBE ten tables in the whole place. What was the issue!? If you cant handle that then what else is there to say.. You've got a "manager" serving.. It's no wonder this place was a flop. Trust and believe I was never planning on coming back anyway. I totally expected a snarky reply based off of all your other bad reviews/replies. I left my review purely so that other potential diners knew what to expect. Thanks for a terrible experience and like I said, a waste of my time...
Read moreI am always grateful to find takeout options, especially when we are vacationing for the first time since the onset of the pandemic. My number one priority is to keep my family safe and dining out is not an option for us. From what I read, Breakfast Guru had an extremely appetizing menu and offered options from the most traditional breakfast fare to items with more sophistication. Having two young children who can be VERY picky, we ordered a traditional waffle and pancakes with a mixed berry compote. Prior to ordering, I contacted the restaurant to inquire about the kids’ menu and I was informed that any item from the menu could be modified to a kids’ portion. My husband and I opted for breakfast sandwiches (on biscuits.) Since we were pretty hungry, we each ordered two because we were uncertain of the size.
Pickup of my food was an easy process. The added benefit was having a lovely conversation with two of the employees. I appreciate the efforts many small businesses are making to ensure customer satisfaction and safety. Making a connection with customers speaks volumes to the business’ character. It is not always easy to navigate the unpredictable waters Covid throws our way. I wish Breakfast Guru continued success since their food was absolutely scrumptious and the staff was warm and friendly.
My children devoured their breakfasts, even though they didn’t look like the waffles or pancakes I prepare for them daily. Kids eat with their eyes so the mere fact that not one morsel was left in the takeout containers is a testament to the quality and taste of Breakfast Guru’s waffles and pancakes. The eggs in our biscuit sandwiches were fluffy and light and my husband was thrilled he had three halved sausage links on his sandwich.
Job well done, Breakfast Guru! We will...
Read moreThis past summer my friends and I went to The Breakfast Guru for the 1st time and absolutely loved it. They are located so close to the boardwalk. Maybe a block and a half no more than 2 blocks. Easy walking distance. We went back a day after to have more of their breakfast. First of all the staff and owners are so friendly. Because I am writing this almost 3 months later I do not recall the name of our server and the owner’s wife but they just made us feel so welcome, like a family. The menu had so many options we ordered so many things to try. We ordered a seasonal dish of peaches and crème crepes, these fresh peaches were picked by the owners at a local farm the day before. These peaches and crème crepes tasted like heaven, the sweet of the crème and semi tartness of the fresh peaches was an incredible taste. We also tried their stuffed French toast. It was filled with Nutella and covered with bananas and drizzled with chocolate. Our only regret was that we had to share this, it was that good!!! We then came back a day later for the breakfast sandwiches and these were cooked to perfection. Everything we ate was like a home-cooked meal.
Breakfast Guru is certainly living up to their name and I highly recommend them. I can’t wait until the next time I am visiting Rehobeth so I can stop in and sample their lunch. Thank you to the owners who really made it a wonderful experience during...
