Under new management, this rustic brasserie is a must-visit destination for food lovers and craft beer enthusiasts alike. Recently renovated, the space now features a stunning rooftop patio — perfect for enjoying their impressive micro brew selection while taking in the fresh air and views. Inside, old-world European comfort dishes and American classics are given new life, prepared with the same reverence as their beer. The warm, inviting ambiance and attentive service make it a standout choice for casual nights out or special gatherings. We sampled an incredible spread, starting with bone marrow canoes that were silky, savory perfection, followed by crispy wings, golden fries, and artisan pizza fresh from the oven. The tacos were bursting with flavor, but the highlight was the Southern Flame board — tender picaña, rich Argentinian steak, and smoky blood sausage paired with fried yuca, bright chimichurri, and fiery llajua sauce. With every bite complemented by one of their expertly crafted micro brews, this brasserie proves that its blend of rustic soul and culinary artistry makes it a must-visit destination in town.

I can’t say enough good things about Brasserie Saint James. We hosted a large group dinner in the private room of the main bar. They were accommodating, gracious and organized. We had a difficult group, people arriving all different times, sitting, standing, kids, old folks, separate tabs, dietary restrictions, all the things servers dread. Yet our server helped all of us herself, efficiently and with a smile. And the food? Well it’s delicious. I see comments that it’s expensive, but you get what you pay for. The food is fresh, flavorful and well prepared. I’m a big fan of the sauerkraut, which really tastes more like across between sauerkraut and sautéed cabbage with bacon. Mmmmm. The beer selection and cocktail are also a great reason to visit. The venue is so large you really can create any type of experience you are looking for, cozy and quiet, lively bar action, patio dining al fresco, large group dinners, or a simple booth for four. I’ve been to Brasserie Saint James a handful of times now and I foresee going back many times in the future.

We found this place by googling restaurants near us and this was a true find! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants now. The wings and fries is WOW, we ordered that as an appetizer and shared it and then we shared the fried chicken with Kale & grits. He thought it was perfect and didn’t need any additional seasoning, I did add lots of salt to the Kale (I’m not a kale fan) but I do LOVE grits and these were perfect! This was very good as well but the wings and fries were better. My husband ordered the TERPENE HAZE IPA and he really liked that a lot. I want to go back for the wings and fries. We ate at the bar and had one of the best bartenders ever.

I went about a week ago. Overall - Wonderful staff, Good food, Amazing design In main room, Cook staff that is poorly taken care of, Unpleasant entrance and patio

Service - We sat at the bar. Angel took care of us, and he was so lovely! Maya sat us and came around to talk to us every so often. They were both really lovely and helped me with my friend that's going through a breakup. They both helped us choose from the menu and get nice drinks.

Food - I got the Brasserie Burger with Poutine and a side of Fries. The fries were perfect and came with a delicious spicy ketchup. The Burger was delicious. I haven't had a burger that good in a while. However, I ordered Poutine with Sausage Gravy, but got the Mushroom Gravy. The Mushroom Gravy was very bland and not good at all.

Order Problem - As I said, I ordered the Sausage Gravy and got Mushroom Gravy. I know Angel got it right because we talked about the mistake. It seems that the POS system is causing lots of problems. I believe they need to work on supporting the cook staff. The food they made was great.

Atmosphere - First off, the entrance hallway is a mess. It is so long and had a horrible vibe. There is a mess on the right side where it looks like the host should be. When I finally made it to the main room it was a relief. It was actually very nice inside. A wonderful rustic charm, with very nice, soft lighting. However, the host station seemed too small. Maya had to juggle a lot of things. For a nicer restaurant, I expect a pleasant entrance and a thoughtfully organized host station. I went out to the patio and it was okay. It felt very blank and boring. This was a big contrast to the well designed interior. Outside there are these large stone walls left completely blank. It felt kind of like a prison yard. I was not able to make it upstairs but I have heard...

A fail on multiple fronts unfortunately. We arrived shortly after 1pm on a Sunday. Our party of 4 placed our orders and were told that burgers and steaks are not available. Ok, two of us selected alternate meals. Then the diet sodas were not good because the ratio of syrup to water was way off. Again, ok, our server refreshed them, not that it helped. When our food arrived we enjoyed the presentation and smell. The taste, not so much. My fish and chips, had the fish and shrimp overly greasy. My sister in law's waffle was cold and slightly under cooked. My wife's salmon bagel was not only soggy with the diced (not minced or pureed) salmon and cream cheese that had been mixed together, the smoke flavor overpowered everything else including the capers and red onion. The various pickled veg on her plate was very tasty! My brother in law will, and did eat everything on his plate, whether he likes it or not. He said the chicken breading was "funky and hard".

Our server was excellent and we don't blame her in any way. The final insult to injury was when my wife went to the restroom, she overheard our server talking to a manager who remarked "What's their drama now?". It doesn't matter if the manager was talking about us. Bad mouthing your customers should be done where they CAN'T hear you. The manager did, after requested, discount the uneaten meals which was appreciated.

It was a shame because my wife and I had fond memories of St. James...

When it came down to choosing an establishment for our son's wedding reception the choices seemed overwhelming. As a family we have dined at Brasserie Saint James on many occasions and have never been disappointed. Our son had thrown out there that why don't we have it at the Brasserie? We chuckled believing the price would be out of our budget. After some checking around on prices for a party of this size we were pleasantly surprised they came in the same range as many other venues for a party of this type and size. We already knew the quality of the food, service, and of course the craft beers. All this being known we went with the Brasserie, and they did not disappoint. From the early planning stages with Ellie and Zak, through the menu planning to set up on the day of the event everything went without a hitch, perfect. May of our guest were from out of town and had made comment that a trip back must include a meal from the Brasserie. May of our local guests had no idea of the quality of the food and service at this establishment and would be back. From the ambience to the food and the wonderful service the Brasserie nailed it. If reviews are based on 5 stars, we would give the Brasserie 10 stars. Thank you, Zak and Ellie, for putting together an unforgettable evening for our family...
