The food was good. (+1) I came here because I saw they were open till 10p and my other dinner plans fell through. I arrived at the restaurant at 845p and was seated shortly thereafter. The place was PACKED at 845p, a Sunday night. The waitress came to take my order at 9p. (I had a favourite Vietnamese restaurant back home and although much smaller, they had a much business and better service and made everything by hand.) There are plastic reusable chinese style chopsticks, spoons, and dipping saucers on the tables, which is something I loved and missed about the Vietnamese restaurants back home. (+1) Golden Flower disappointed me. I really wanted spring rolls as an appetizer. I hate cilantro, so I requested a sub to basil instead. The waitress said that was not possible. Upon inquiring as to why not, I was informed that they buy them pre-made so there is no way to appease substitutions. (-1) But, no biggie much, I ordered dumplings instead, along with a large bowl of Pho, a bowl of rice, a Vietnamese unsweetened iced tea, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. My food arrived at my table at 950p, just ten minutes until closing. (-1) Anyone who has ever chowed down on Pho knows it is not a meal you can quickly eat. Once the clock hit 955p, the waitress brought out my check and pushed it to me across the table, then left. My face was full of noodles and spicy broth.....attempting to enjoy my meal, which was hella late, not by my doing mind you.... Every 2 or 3 minutes the waitress came by to tell me I had to pay. (-1) Well, duh.. of course I have to pay, i didn't think it was free. On her 4th visit to my table, she waited until I had a break to drink a sip of tea. "You have to pay right now, we are closing!" (Sorry, but whose fault is that?) I had cash on me so I just handed it over. The dumplings were soft, full, and delicious. Although the Pho seemed a little void of seasonings, I thoroughly enjoyed the flavour of the food. Nothing was too hot or too cold. (+1) What I didn't appreciate was that the restaurant chose to serve more customers than they had the means to do within their hours of operation, then inserted their pushiness into my dining experience. Having said that, I will return for food, but I won't be returning to dine in again.

My rating of 4 stars is solely based on the pho. The flavor is good and the portion size is more than enough to satiate most appetites without needing an appetizer supplement. The basil, bean sprout, jalapeño, and lime wedge additives are very fresh and appropriately sized for complimenting the broth, meat and noodles. The meat in the broth was tasty and plentiful but tended a bit too much on the chewy side. The heat in the jalapeño slices was disappointing as they were quite mild. However this was easily remedied with the addition of some Sriracha. The restaurant was very busy during the dinner service and,as a result, the service was a bit slow (30 minutes in and out versus the 15-20 minutes I have experienced in many other pho establishments). There is a good number of about 20 different pho variations available for order. At a cost of between $16 and $19 per bowl, this is some of the more expensive pho that I have come across in my travels. However, the price can partially be explained by the restaurant being located on high price real estate conveniently caddy corner to the Silver Legacy Casino.

Reason for visiting: brunch with friends Date/time of visit: Sunday morning, ~10:30 AM Parking: in the lot, free. But it's kinda tight. street parking too if available (looks like there should be) Party size: 11, 4 kids Environment/ambience: loud, busy. No TVs inside. We had to combine a couple tables together. Think of a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown 😀 Service: it was a ~30 min wait for us, most likely b/c of our large party. Smaller parties can prob get seated sooner. Our hostess was nice, and offered suggestions. Came around once to drop off water, then food. About it, haha.. prob b/c it was so busy. Food: the food was ok. Had the #26, charbroiled pork chop with an over easy egg. it was pretty good 😀 comes with rice too. Cost: didn't pay 😀 I would estimate $150 with tip

This review is about the Phō as we did not have anything else. For Reno it's probability the best Phō in town but I do have to try one or two more out of 5-6 that are in town. Service good, fast and attentive. Food arrived and looked good, broth was more substantial than others in town and had a nice taste with some umami. Ingredients were plentiful and lots of noodles in the large. I had the stake and tendon. Stake was a little to lean but still tasty. Tendon was soft and well done which made it almost melty. Came with lemon and I'm used to limes but I still liked it. Four peper slices spiced it up on all sides. Atmosphere was busy and almost like a large cafeteria which made it noisey so probably not not a good place for a first date but with kids great.
