To preface; I don't like sushi, so i can't review how it was, but appearance wise (you can see for yourself in the pictures) was great. I am a simple eater, tend to find something i like on a menu and stick to it. For asian cuisines i am a fried rice person, but will branch out on occasion. Additionally, the plates were share sized which was always my favorite way to eat, so kuddos on that.
Starting the meal off with a few appetizers we chose the edamame and potstickers. Not being a fan of edamame i have to assume they were good as both the missus and my son devoured them speaking nothing but praise. The pot stickers were flavorful and packed with filling, fried to a nice crisp served with a sauce i could not identify, and did not use as they needed no sauce.
The dish I selected was called Rim Fried Rice, a combo fried rice including shrimp, chicken, beef and pork. The rice was cooked well, the veggies crisp, and the shrimp cook perfectly, but the flavors seemed to just be a melody of one flavor, it all tasted the same. Texturally i got the shrimp and the tender meat, but flavor wise it felt bland.
My son elected for the broccoli beef; hes the smart one. I've eaten my fair share of broccoli beef in my day, and i avoid it usually because of the texture of the broccoli itself. However this broccoli was crisp, and yet cooked and hot. I loved the snap it made biting into it, which contrasted the tenderness of the beef which virtually melted in your mouth. The sauce had just a hair of backside heat (as a coward to spicy food, i loved it) which made the whole thing come together amazingly. My only wish was more of that amazing sauce, i would buy that stuff by the bottle.
Our server Kristina (name dropping because she deserves the recognition) was outstanding. Casino restaurants are busy, and some patrons can be... demanding. She was on point, I watched her weave between her tables ensuring drinks were filled and needs were met. When our food arrived she was attentative to anything more we needed before starting, then gave us a decent amount of time to begin enjoying our food without interuption before checking on us. The other tables being served by other staff were being taken care of as well, so i can only say the staff there was amazing.
All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and for the price, most definantly worth it. If it wasnt for my rice this could of easily earned my 5th star. Lastly, they offer military discount which is more rare than you think, so i thank them for supporting the men and women of our...
Read moreThe Good: The birthday desert was a take on cheesecake that was very good. Baked Mussels had nice heat and were not chewy. Fried rice was not overly oily and had a nice subtle flavor that I would expect from this entrée.
Just OK: Pad Thai with Chicken was under-seasoned. Needed more tamarind for sure. Char Sui BBQ Pork had a nice sweet flavor and tender texture. The slices I had, however were at least 50% fat. Peking duck was well cooked, but somehow lacked flavor both with the meat and the hoisin glaze. The presentation was poor as well - just duck parts heaped together in a bowl. My son had Kung Pao shrimp. The shrimp were tough, overcooked. The sauce was really good, nice bit of heat added. Ala carte sushi was on par with any CHEAP local all-you-can-eat place. Definitely was expecting something fresher and more inspired.
The Bad: The Appetizer Platter was on par with cheap bar food. None of it was seemingly made in house. More like freezer to fryer. Lacked flavor and actual cooking technique. Complete waste of money at $22. 3 items on our order were forgotten initially and we had to remind the staff that they had been ordered. The cursory bowl, wasabi, and ginger was nowhere to be found. The sushi arrived, but staff was MIA, so we started eating the sushi only to see staff walking towards the table (5 minutes after the sushi arrived) with a tray with those accoutrements. He saw we were already well into the sushi and he walked away with the tray.
This is a mid-range asian/sushi restaurant (on a good night) with higher end prices. I was debating between 2 or 3 stars because the price point did not match the experience. The argument that it was Saturday night and it was busy holds no water anymore. We are out of the pandemic. Hotel resorts are a 100% service based industry and Rim Asian Bistro needs to step up on the sourcing of the food, the prep, and the table side service in order to match the cost of this meal. Between this and the lack luster steakhouse (reviewed previously), I'm not sure GSR actually has any notable...

My family and I went to eat at Rim - Fusion Chinese restaurant at GSR. It was a disaster! At first, they put their utensils on the table. Utensils that you put in your mouth and now they put them on the table. That's super yukky! Is this what you called a fine dining?
When they gave us the bowls for egg flour soup, 3 of them were dirty and and used with leftover (rice, food) in it. That's filthy.. again.
When we ordered green tea ice cream, they did not give us new spoons. What? Are we going to use the spoons that we used for our food? REALLY??
Lastly, and this is the best one, I know more or less the price of what we ate and this waitress of ours (Cynthia), gave me the receipt which cost $127++. I gave my credit card and when she came back (without the itemized receipt anymore), the amount she gave me was freaking $187!! Even if they took the gratuity, there is no way $127 will moved up to $187! Right there I know what is going on. This is their modus operandi! I asked Chynthia to give me the itemized receipt again and her alibi was she already threw it out. Really? Am I stupid to accept that alibi? I told her to print me another one. You can tell that she did not know what to do because she knew that I know she was trying to get money from me without knowing it. When she came back, she told me that I would see two charges on my bank account because she already charged me twice. WHAT THE HECK??!!!!!!!! Now I need to monitor my account to ensure that other amount will be erased. Lousy Lousy waitress. Very unprofessional!!!!
Please do not eat at this filthy restaurant and if you can't help it, make sure you check the amount you have to pay and check it again before you sign the receipt, otherwise, you will be a part of their modus operandi.
Part of their money making scam. You should be ashamed of...
