TLDR: Tea is good. Dumplings I have higher expectations... If you can read Chinese: 不咋样. My American wife who ate junk food most of her life, even said "this is depressing". She is demanding that I cook the actual popcorn chicken to make up for this emotional damage. My mother's eyebrows are pulled closer with each bite, by the end this meal aged her look.
Here is my nitpick: The popcorn chicken, if you are going to cook chicken before frying, don't overcook them, or sit in hot water too long... The entire chicken has reabsorbed back the scummy taste from the bone. On top of that, the fat has broken down to make the coating wet.
Shrimp and chives, my wife called it VA Beach salt water, if chopped shrimp is too expensive, instead use dried shrimp it will make the overall taste better than the slimy mushy fishy paste.
OG pork, salt and chewy pork.
Curry chicken, the only one my wife says is okay because of curry flavor.
Tofu dumpling: it is like eating oil bomb.
Ah I just remembered they have chicken broth on the menu, the popcorn chicken is probably used for the broth then cut up for frying. just my...
Read moreDefinitely not what I expected when they advertised Ramen. I know. I know. The name of the place is Got Dumplings not Got Ramen. But McDonald’s isn’t named McFries. I’m just saying. It’s great to be good at one thing but it’s even better to excel equally on others. The cold egg for the ramen was terrifically over cooked and freezing cold as it sank to the bottom of the bowl drowning in its own sorrow. . Their focus is on dumplings and tea, but even that falls short compared to other places nearby. It’s nothing to write home about, that’s for sure. . And don’t get me started on the wastefulness—they serve everything in plastic containers, whether you’re dining in or taking out. It’s like they’re on a mission to disrespect the Earth. We had items that didn’t even need their own plastic containers. . Oh, and be prepared to pay about 35% more here than at most dumpling and ramen spots downtown. The service? Average at best, and somehow rushed even when the place was practically empty. . Honestly, the only reason I’m giving them 3 stars is for the cleanliness and their overpriced dumplings. . Hard pass...
Read moreIf dumplings are what you want, this is where you get them in the city. The interior is calming in contrast to the loud city outside. The staff, in my experiences, are patient and friendly; the patrons the same, content with waiting and friendly while doing so. Expect your fried dumplings crispy and correctly portioned... Slightly more than the perfect one bite 😹. Get the 12 dumplings and a couple of cold noodles with peanut sauce to share with a friend inside or out. It's order and sit, but not fast food. It's good food... I seriously want these right now reviewing about them🤤. Ok... Skip the friend and keep the 12 dumplings and noodles to yourself... So good!
Yo! Do not complain about parking. You can walk/bike/robot your way in like everyone else or drive around until you find a space. It's completely worth it and there is no competition for these dumplings (if so, get at me; I...
