My family and I went to the Riverdale location for a family dinner at about 8:30 pm on 12/29/16. After receiving our food and sat down to eat my wife and I both quickly realized what was being said on the music that was being played throughout the restaurant. I won't go into great detail as to what was being described in the music but the "F" bomb was dropped more times in one song than I could count or that i would want my kids or myself to experience. And the way that particular word was used towards women was especially disturbing.
We waited for the song to end to see if it would get better. Well it didn't and another song came on with similar expletives. It reached the point where we went and asked them to change the music because it was highly inappropriate. The staff turned it off for about a minute and then turned on another song, this time even louder. Well this song wasn't any better. As similar expletives were being played, as the music was being played I could hear laughter coming from the kitchen area. There was two female workers eating near us, I told them that the music wasn't appropriate and that my kids shouldn't be listening to these words being said. Myself and multiple other customers began telling them to turn the music off. After some yelling amongst employees the music was finally turned off and the female employee walked over to me to apologize. I asked her if this music was approved to be played in the restaurant. I never received an answer before she walked off. Even though the music was turned off the mood among all the customers was already ruined. We were thanked by multiple customers for having them turn the music off. I thought that the manager that was there and witness the whole thing would have said something to the employees or to us about the situation but she didn't appear to care.
As we were leaving the restaurant, my wife asked for her receipt, as we never received one after purchasing our food so that we could call a manager or cooperate about the situation. The staff laughed and said they could write it on a piece of paper if we really wanted one. Another customer said we could have her receipt. My wife took the receipt and as we were leaving two male employees behind the counter began to mock us saying, oh no I guess we're going to get another bad review just because of our music. My wife informed them that we could hear them and one of the male employees shrugged his shoulders and continued saying the same thing as if nothing was wrong with the way that not only us but other customers were treated. We walked out the door and the same male employee holds up a peace sign with his hand and smiles as we left the store.
I have never in all my life been treated this porly at a restaurant, and I have never heard such terrible music that wasn't edited by any stretch of the imagination at a restaurant. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I hope something is done to correct this environment and behavior so that other people don't have to be treated the way that my family and I...
Read moreUpdate 2: Management did not fulfill their offer to make things right. He told us that he would compensate us four free entrees for our trouble and it took 3 weeks and then he didn’t even deliver what was promised. I would have been okay with an apology and a promise to provide better training to his people. But for him to offer that to us and then not deliver after I changed my review? Seems scummy and crooked.
Update: We have since been privately contacted by management who has gone above and beyond to take our concerns seriously and make this right. I have ever confidence that their team with receive the additional training needed.
My husband is allergic to cheese; it makes his throat swell and causes significant pain. We’ve never had a problem with our request to omit cheese being honored when we’ve ordered from other locations. We ordered a plain sweet pork burrito along with three other meals. All of our other food was correct, but thank god we’ve learned to check our orders because they added cheese to my husband’s burrito. When we called to notify them, they proceeded to argue with us and claim that we didn’t check the burrito, and accused us of trying to scam them. I understand that we ordered within an hour of closing time (for pickup, we weren’t dining in the restaurant) but that’s not an excuse to ignore a request to leave out an allergen. They’re lucky we checked our food first, but their negligence could easily result in a law suit if they don’t fix it. And the fact that they argued with us is absolutely deplorable customer service.

Read moreThe food is heavy and I felt a little rushed. I wanted corn tortillas but before I could say he had slapped the meat on the flour and sent me on through. Not a huge fan of the assembly line lunch process.....Leaving my original review from 5 years ago and adding on. -- Decided to give it another shot after years. Not much has changed if anything it was worse. Dear Costa Vida employees..the pico is not coming out of your check 🙄 why are you guys in such a rush? Why am i obligated to leave a tip if the base pay there is $14 per the sign on the door? My "enchilada" - and I use term extremely generously- consisted of one raw corn tortilla with the teeniest scoop of meat and precisely 8 (yes I counted, I was just that annoyed) tiny cubes of tomato, 3 tiny shreds of cilantro...not an onion or jalapeno in sight. I wanted sour cream but I was so rushed I couldn't ask as she put the tablespoon of pico and promptly closed my to go box and threw it to the cashier. As we walked out my kid mentioned he had wanted limes but they rushed us right through like they all had somewhere to be. Please see the pic I have attached and kindly tell me it that was worth the $15? Yes that is including tip because I feel like a jerk not tipping. Most servers make $2.15 an hour and tips are what they live on. They also run around their respective restaurants and bust their butts in most cases. These kids stand in a judgey little line and rush you through like you're in the prison chow line. The food is sub-par the service is sub-par. I just don't get why it's still so...
