NOBODY Buys anything from here always no line dry and empty … and she remembered me from all the other times I came and gone say since you always come I’ll just add more food because YES I TOOK IT BACK AND ASKED FOR MY MONEY back she didn’t want to give my money back and added more food which was still very small lol I’m assuming because I kept coming back she was gone give me less food so I’ll come back and pay for another bowl well now you just LOST a customer FOREVER I’ll never eat here again I’m very spiritual she gave off fake sneaky and conniving some about her is not right the way yall make the food all sloppy in the back that’s why it was something in my food the 2cd time I came here and I have those pics with the sliver sharp thing in my food I will be uploading now my man already threw away the one that had less food I wish I got a pic before even taking it back to her these are from my previous visits I also got a drink before which was good butt ….. yea the one that looks full and good was my 1st time I also had that drink the food was all cold but I warmed and like it so I continued to go …. Read moreAuthentic African cuisine?? Are you sure this is a disgrace to the culture of Africa, weather Nigeria, Ghana or even Zimbabwe it's still a disgrace to be called authentic African cuisine. Your pictures are misleading. You know and I know you can't give an African man this little food and expect him to be full especially at these 419 prices.. Your Fufu is pounded yam not fufu what you call okra stew is not okra stew the meat wasn't even cooked in okra you can tell it was taken out of another pot of probably tomato-based soup and put on top .The so-called pepper soup had no pepper in it it was brown. Where is the pieces of goat it's chopped piece of meat like it's a mexcian type of chopped meat African like chunks of meat. This is really a disgrace to African cuisine. I could've done better in my kitchen. And I will leave a review so everyone can see and make up their mind with the video. I took that I paid 30 some dollars but this is really a disgrace to the real beauty of African food. And the individuals you have working there nothing against them I was looking for true Africans to be preparing the food. Very Very Sad not a good look or representation of MotherAfrica not because of the workers the food is as I said very disappointing . Also to respond to your response it has nothing to do with the cooks you have or the workers. I have my right to provide feedback on what you advertise and what is provided to me as a customer looking for authentic African dishes. You may not like it or agree with it . Will not return nor recommend and for those I hyped this place up to because of the photos I do apologize. Go for yourself and...
Read moreEven though this is close to my work, I drive to LA (specifically Veronica’s kitchen) to get Nigerian food, Mama Wales' food portions and taste are not consistent. I am fine to pay a higher amount for good food but I expect to get what I paid for.
Those who are not Nigerian or familiar with delicious Nigerian food will probably like it and if don’t please do not Judge all Nigerian food/restaurants based on your experience at Mama Wales.
I gave this place 4 chances and hesitated to leave a not so positive review because it’s not my style, but I felt I owe it to others who might want to know before going.
Food quality: it’s 50/50 2/4 times it was delicious and 2/4 it tasted off and I did not feel good after eating my meal. Food did not taste fresh which is problematic/health concerning for a dish like egusi soup that should only be eaten when fresh.
Food Quantity: extremely below average portion compared to most Nigerian restaurants. The soup is so small you will have fufu left over! Aside from the small soup plates at Mama Wales’, never in my 30 years of eating Nigerian food had I ever been given a soup portion that was not enough for me to finish my fufu. A typical Nigerian restaurant gives a generous amount of soup that after you are done with the fufu you have leftover soup. Also at Mama Wales the four times I ate there I only got about 2-3 goat meats. For that the last two times I ordered here I paid for extra goat meat just to get two...
