I wish I could give Lucys Formals zero stars. Nice dresses BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! My experience was frustrating and disappointing from start to finish. As I walked into the shop, I had a sense of déjà vu, recalling a previous visit where we were met with entitlement and demands for appointments and deposits before even being greeted. My daughters thought I was mistaken.
On this visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the sales associate who helped us find dresses for my daughters' quinceañera court. She was sweet and exceeded my expectations, assisting the girls in finding the black dresses they wanted. However, when it came time to take my information for the order, the associate, who was fairly new, admitted she needed help from her manager to process the order correctly.
This is where things took a turn for the worse. The manager returned and was livid. It was painful to watch her complain about getting having to return from wherever she was to assist the sales associate in completing the order. She ranted that the sales associate was never going to learn if she refused to do it alone. The associate appeared embarrassed and humiliated. Despite this, I proceeded with the order because I didnât want the associate to lose out on her commission for seven dresses due to her superior's behavior.
Eventually, all the girls paid for their dresses and picked them up, but parents later shared that their experiences were filled with rudeness, snarkiness, and a complete lack of customer service. One incident involved my daughter picking up a dress for a relative, and they were treated poorlyâan insult to say the least.
After hearing these stories, I went back to speak with the owner. One of the associates whispered to me that the owner was actually also the manager and known for her horrible attitude. I learned that complaints about her behavior were not new, and it seemed she simply didnât care because it was her store.
While I believe in supporting small businesses, I also believe in the importance of treating customers with respect. The dresses we purchased were of decent quality, but certainly not cheap at around $150 each. I regret sending parents to this store and purchasing seven dresses. If youâre considering going to Lucyâs Formals, I highly advise against it. The customer service is abysmal, and the ownerâs attitude is a nightmare. While my daughter was looking for a dress, one of the salesclerks went up to my daughter and told her that she could not look at the dresses unless she was buying one. My daughter didn't say anything and came to the other side of the store to tell me what happened. I informed the clerk that we were there shopping for a prom dress and why she she went at my daughter like that. I was very calm but confused. She stated that her manager told her to say that. I asked why because any person shopping needs to look at the dresses to see if they want to buy and sometimes they do and sometimes they don't - it's called "shopping." I felt very uncomfortable but let my daughter pick a couple of dresses to try on. All beautiful dresses but I really wasn't into it because the store was not welcoming. Then one of the dresses didn't fit my daughter so another sales clerk came to get the dress to give the next size up. Then my daughter was trying to decide on 2 of the dresses she tried on. The clerk asked us how we were doing and I told her that my daughter was trying to make a decision between 2 dresses. Then I said that we were going to shop for some shoes and that might help my daughter with her decision. The clerk stated that we needed to buy the dress first and once again I said that my daughter wasn't sure and the mall would be closing so I wanted to use the time for her to get her shoes for the prom. Then the clerk asked for the dress that didn't fist and I told her that my daughter gave it to her for another size. We waited there while she frantically looked for the dress. My daughter and I were puzzled and felt like she was accusing us of the missing dress. The clerk then asked one of the coworkers to help her find the dress. We waited because we wanted to make sure she found the dress before we left. I suggested she look at the camera. When she went towards the TV screen she saw the dress she misplaced. I took my daughter and the damas to look at the dresses as I wanted this to be a fun and memorable experience for her quinceanera. Although I had an appointment, the owner seemed a bit irritated and upset that I was letting the girls decide on the style of the dress because it was taking too long. The girls finally chose a dress, the owner was now happy and she measured the girls and we placed the order with a $210 deposit. Today (4weeks later), I had an appointment and the owner said no one remembers speaking to me, but she was willing to help us anyway. The girls were all excited and started trying on their dresses. This made the owner upset. She said, "this is not how we do things here, only one girl can try on their dress and we have to help you, but it's too late just go ahead and tell us when you're done". I apologized and the girls proceeded to try on their dresses, every single one fit horrible and required major alterations. The parents and I began asking questions and she became very rude, making faces and speaking to us like we were dumb. I was completely embarrassed to put the girls and the parents in this situation. I told the owner that this was uncalled for and reminded her that I was about to spend well over $1,000 on the dresses, I told her that she could keep my $210 deposit and that she would be losing my business. She laughed at me and never apologized, instead she replied, "you will pay for everything" as we walked away she then blurted "typical Mexicans".
